It's a tight magazine,,, but again the westcoast is left out . All they've had so far is Quik and ...........Dre (if you wan't to call him westcoast)

I love how in the new issue, Eminem was talkin about how he's got a bass player, a keyboardist, and an engineer that helps him with his beats.

.. Shit,, that would be nice

yeah, EM kills me with that shit!

Produced by Eminem-Keyboards by.. Guitars by...
Bass by.. so and so.

He don't make tracks , he just tells people how to play the shit. I guess he can call his self a producer but his tracks are so basic. Hard to believe you'd need all those fools to do it for you.

I don't know whether or not Eminem plays any instruments, programs drums, or anything else... And don't really care. Either way though, YES he is definately a producer.

To understand what a "producer" actually is/does, do a forum search and soak what myself & Heresy have posted on this topic a million times before.

^^ Agreed. Producing and DJ'ing are two different realms man. Some producers get there start in music as DJ's but that's by far not a requirement. It's wack to fill a magazine focusing on producers/production with DJ-related stuff. There's mountains of much more relevant information and topics they could touch.

They probably have DJ's on their staff.

quincey jones is one of the tightest producers ever
and all he plays on his productions is the horns
but he gets that shit arranged
i was just finna say that....

quincy jones is the definition of producer... and eminem in that sense is also, because he is writin the melodies (thinkin em up and humin them like he does is still the same as writing) melodies, and having the actual instruments played by skilled players

dj quick, battlecat, kanye, timbo, jus blaze, and so on, are WRITERS/COMPOSERS... but dont get me wrong, damn near every writer/composer/beat maker in the industry have writtin parts for a more skilled artist to play... (ie kanye and miri benari colabos)

i feel you on that....but im pretty sure the cats behind scratch mag save money that way.

i think they should interview more producers who are open in sharing their beatmaking process in depth. ive noticed that a lot of the producers in the mag dont give much details. but other than that its a pretty dope mag.

I got the issue with Lil' Jon on the cover. Producer of the Year or whatever. That shit is a little too technical for me to understand though. Its hard to get your foot in the door with this shit if there's no one around to teach you.

young guru is the only person to listen to in that magazine lol
but it is a hot magazine

i just wish they'd give more TIPS
like "here's a setting i like for vocals with the eq" etc

and stupidest shit ever in that mag
was that one producer saying "name your tracks with original names, like wet poodle " or whatever the hell he said

that's a producing tip?
