I argued with a conservative recently who stated that the chemical byproducts of pollution, cars, factories, synthetic substances, etc. were/are essentially the same or no worse than volcanic eruptions, natural carbon output such as decaying matter, etc. on the ozone.

Are there any resources or studies I can reference regarding this issue?

I think it's ridiculous than someone can really believe that a rubber tire factory burning down or any other combo of synthetic chemical gumbo that gets sent up into the atmosphere on a daily basis is essentially no worse than all the natural 'pollutants' the earth produces.

there are a lot of compounds that are common, but there are also a lot that are unique to human activity, like the CFCs.

Anyway:

1. Those that are invented by humans typically do the most damage

2. There is no point discussing whether our pollutants also exist in Nature, because what matters is the quantity. All living organisms excrete CO2, but it is the fact that we have raised its concentration by almost a third that's causing AGW
