Do you feel this is a good or bad thing? What if your child was at school, saw someone with a gun, didn't tell and a multiple homicide took place? What if your home got shot up because your child told.......ah america.......damned if you do, damned if you don't.

My children will be raised to not snitch.

Ah yes, the wonderful world of snitching. (I too was suspended numerous times due to snitches)

Welcome to 1984!!!

there is another aspect of snitching that is equally important to the rulers, an aspect that George Orwell explored in depth in his acclaimed novel, 1984.

Snitching creates a culture of paranoia. It isolates people, breaks down social solidarity, and prevents exchange of information between members of society. Everyone becomes obsessed with watching their own back. Nobody is a friend. Nobody can be trusted.

Snitching creates a culture in which every encounter between two citizens is mediated by authority: Big Brother is always in the room with you. And even if it isn't, you have to behave as if it is. The ubiquity of authority is the essence of totalitarianism.

Snitching is ok. The majority of people aren’t aware at times of the consequences of the situation, but they all have the intentions to protect themselves and others. What wrong with that?….till the situation could be investigated with a microscope, the general population and the rest of the world, humans are not trying to destroy each other while we live in it.

But it’s sad that we must keep quiet too for the same protections.

A circular discussion without facts of every single situation on earth is pointless.

so if a school gets shot up then its ok because no one snitched?

call me silly, but i dont think firearms should be anywhere near schools...i myself wouldnt rat someone out who had a gun, but im not going to condemn anyone because they do...after so much bullshit going on w kids these days, i wouldnt trust any of them w a gun on school grounds or anywhere else...think of it this way...if your son gets shot at school, and later it comes out that a number of ppl had the chance to speak up, youre going to be ok with it as long as there wasnt a rat involved?

i dont agree w schools setting up snitching 101, but not everyone is raised in the streets to handle their own and not everyone is going to be ok with a underage kid carrying around a gun during lunch time.

although i dont agree w kids snitching about drugs...who gives a damn if jimmy is sniffing coke, he aint hurting anyone but himself, now a gun, well, guns go boom.

HERESY- what if someone killed your kid with that gun? what if some other kid knew that they were going to kill your son but didn't say anything? Would you be a peace with the other kid who knew and didn't snitch?

I don’t think this really has anything to do with GUNS.

"It’s not that we feel there are any problems here,” said Principal Glenn White. “It’s a proactive move for getting information that will help deter any sort of illegal activity.”

Under the new policy, a student would receive $10 for information about a theft on campus, $25 or $50 for information about drug possession, and $100 for information about gun possession or other serious felonies."

The man even says plain and simple that they dont feel there are any real problems.

Whether or not these people have good intentions is besides the point. This is a horrible idea. You know how it's like as a teenager- everyone’s doing something "bad." This just promotes everyone to snitch on each other.

People already have common sense. You know someone who stole a CD, who fucking cares. If you know a classmate is planning the next Columbine, you say something. Kids shouldn't have to get PAID MONEY to make basic judgments in life.

I didnt read the article. I agree with you. I wouldnt raise my kids to be snitches either. A gun though is a whole nother situation. I would try to teach my kids when it was right to snitch.

I snitched once only because I was getting caught up. I shouldn't of done it. Now I regret it and I am paying for it. Snitching is one of the dumbest things ive done in my life. If not the dumbest...

However I will say this. The people fucking me over might of already knew what I told them. So I kinda didnt snitch, however I did say a name. I shouldnt of said anyones name.

If your Irish you know better not to snitch...

Not much. He was just like whats up? I could tell he was un comfortable, I was to. I just asked him how long he had worked there. He said that hes been working there since the placed opened. I was like yeah thats cool man, I then told him I lived right up the street. Then I was said later.

I need to go in there and talk to him for a bit longer. The other side of the story is that he snitched me out saying that I stole over $2,300 worth of shit. So I need to get the story straight between him and I.

Yeah 25 bucks aint shit.

Its complete bullshit...DO THESE FUCKING PEOPLE KNOW HOW IMPRESSIONABLE KIDS ARE??

Money shouldn't be the motivator for a decision like this. Its sad, especially when the real core of the problem is the amount of guns in America and the deification of the power acheived by wielding fire arms. These people are creating a solution that creates more problems.

a gang of of shit goes on in public schools but ive heard that theres a gang of drugs in private schools as well, and bullys are everywhere...i dont think sending kids to private school is a alternative to public schooling...i mean really, its not the school system that creates these kids, these kids come to school with their personal baggage...and you know damn well that ppl of all social levels and environments have family problems and things of that nature...maybe a private school would be more controlled setting but there will still be your social misfits...id rather send my kids to public schools, because they can integrate with ppl of diff colors, backgrounds, social classes etc etc...more close to the real world whereas a private school the majority might be more white middle class depending of where the school is.

That's amazing that they're being offered money for information, they are being trained to be fucking informants. I agree with 2-0-sixx though, there's a difference between not snitching on someone for stealing a cd and not saying anything if they know someone is planing the next Columbine. If you know someone is going to kill a number of people AT SCHOOL of all places, I don't think that saying something would be "snitching." That would be protecting a bunch of innocent lives from some kid that has some serious issues. Now if someone tells on someone for having a joint or some shit, that is different, cause they're not hurting anyone with a joint, except maybe themselves.

I remember in 2nd grade people actually got in trouble for telling on other people. I remember it being like that for a couple years...I dunno what the hell happened though, cause shit is not like that anymore, now it's, "if you see someone do something that you think is wrong, tell on them." and I think that's a bunch of crap...
