The current stars of the Bay Area rap scene are Oakland and Vallejo. Sacramento is doing big things nowadays too, despite not being the Bay Area, they're right next door. I also predict Antioch is going to emerge as an influential city in the Bay's rap landscape. What do you think? Also do you think San Francisco can ever reclaim its position in Bay Area Hip Hop? Back in the 90s and early 2000s, San Francisco was one of the top cities, now barely anything big is coming out of SF except for Prezi, but I don't think he has staying power.

Prezi’s buzz seems almost forced. He got a lot of ppl from SF banking on him.

Yase and Yatta are dope imo. Heavybby is dope to me too

Uhh San Francisco is 90% gentrified. Theres almost no locals left. What are you expecting? Some Indian or Asian tech company nerd to start rapping about working at Twitter and Google? Most of hunters point is now luxury condos. The rest will be gone soon too. Prezi is wack he only has a buzz because of "do better" and only because of the guy singing the hook, which is not prezi. The real MVP is the guy who sang his hook for him.

LOLLLL.

Accurate as fuck.

Shit most of the urban population came over the hill to here in Stockton, Sacramento, other parts of the Valley. Even Oakland getting gentrified.

The entire Bay (SF, East, South, North) is way different now than it was 20 years ago. Real estate values, the tech scene, etc - the developers are turning over every stone they can to make some serious money. Can't blame them. If anything, blame the city managers/city council for allowing it to happen. They are driven by money just as much as the developers.

In my opinion, the whole Bay rap scene is kind of weak right now. G-Eazy is probably the most successful right now. Dont know if you want to claim him or not - but he has the most mainstream success. Kind of says a lot when the old guys like E-40, Short, etc are still really the only ones who people identify to the Bay. Philthy Rich had a chance, but was never able to capitalize, IMO.

Spotlight is more on Sac right now - really due to Mozzy.
