These awards are usually voted on by the music critcs at publications like The Reader and City Beat and when it comes to hip hop they are more into the hippy, organic style like the Roots or Tribe Called Quest...a more traditional west coast artist isnt usually going to get any play in that circle...i just realized i actually more like accidentally seen those Higher Minds fools perform...this broad i used to talk to was asked to be in a low budget video and they were taping at some place called the Beehive which is right near city college...anyway i went inside for a drink and the headlining act was this tall white dude and a short white dude and it was some of the worst music my ears have ever had to suffer through..the tall somewhat buff dude is the hype man but this dude is OVERLY HYPE he jumps around and has more charisma than the real mc...shit is hillariously bad..the fact that these 2 are up for some sort of award makes me realize how bad this shit is to begin with

And you gotta Submit you music for them to hear. I think the Awards are sponsored by City Beat which doesnt have a big Rap Influence, but they just had some unsigned artist profile and I didnt see many San Diego Rap Artists listed. I know South Pyscho Cide be on the grind with it, constantly doin shows, sendin out Press Releases etc.. Same with the Icons. And I agree on that steppin out that box. I would love to hear Etch U Sketch from the Icons on an Ecay Beat, Switch Griffins of the Inthe visualz on an E-Low beat, or The M.I.C. on a DJ Demon beat.

TIMZ represents for the Chaldeans out here in SD. If you don't know what Chaldeans are just go to any liqour store and the owner there will be Chaldean. We got a big community out here and we always rep SD. TIMZ's album was executive produced by E-Low so you know its got some of that gangster sound to it. TIMZ's album "Open for Business" and other local artists will soon be available for purchase inside of the many fine liqour stores throughout SD. Just be on the lookout and support local artists.
