Ok guys hurrs the deal:

For 13 years I've owned an ASR-10....I friggin LOVE the thing. But the last couple years I've been utilizing Cubase and VSTis and just using the ASR as the controller...My MAIN gripe is I have yet to find a VST sampler thats friendly to use like my ASR. now I know that nothing will completely emulate it, but I'd like to hear some ideas and suggestions on one I could get that would allow me to utilize samples the way my ASR-10 allowed me to while still using other VSTs

Thanks in advance

I haven't found anything thats really that close either but I've used an ASR10 for so long too that I'm probably too biased anyways. You can do the same stuff in software pretty easily but getting over being stubborn about it isn't.

What software samplers have you tried in the past? And what didn't you like about them?

I know it couldn't of been many because there aren't many out there! And if there is, only a couple of them are worth mentioning.

Have you tried Kontakt?

I use Battery 3 for percussion , but it works well for samples. It also has none destructive editing of the sample. You can set the start and end markers of the sample to be played by dragging with the mouse...best feature I've ever seen. I also use SampleLord. I think this is may be more of what you are looking for. Check your PM.

Thanks Dobie...I'm gonna try SampleLord out today...But the feature u mentioned in Battery 3 about nondestructive editing, does SampleLord have that too? Cause I think one of my biggest gripes is having to edit the sample first in like Soundforge and THEN bring it in ya dig?

Thanks for all the replies people

Yeah...you can do timestretch, tempo etc on the fly. You'll see the knobs and buttons for the selected sample. I didn't see anything about the start and end points...but I'm pretty sure it's there. I don't read manuals unless I really have too :(

I like Kontakt for drums/percussion/sfx.
I like Battery for that. But I could use both for sure, and Kontakt does have more features.

I like using Kontakt for chopping samples and playing samples, assigning them to my controller, setting up one shots, all of the effects, and banging out melodies. Mark: You can really tweak your samples in Kontakt, and the Mapping Editor is wonderful.

And yes, Battery and Kontakt both have nondestructive sample editing, which I love. Kontakt is a little more complex, with multis and so forth. It's a very "smart" program. Battery is very basic and straight forward perfect for drums/percussion.
