The publisher’s confirmed a holiday 2011 launch for PS3, 360 and PC.

The sequel sees the 3rd Street Saints become more of a household name than a gang. Now, though, another group, known as the Syndicate, wants tribute and respect from 3rd Street. Refusing to do so, the two end up going to war.

SR: The Third is in development at Volition. Obviously, Mr Bilson’s excited.

“Saints Row: The Third puts you on top of the world, right at the beginning of the game, with all the perks that go along with being the head of an elite criminal organization,” said THQ’s core games boss.

“There’s no delivering pizza, no shuttling family members about in a long series of taxi missions. Instead, you take all the power of the Third Street Saints and you take the world by storm.”

The game will be on the next front cover of Game Informer in its April issue

A third game is still a sequel to the second game. A trilogy is what you call all three together. I think. Shit now I am even getting confused. Fuck it I need another beer. I'm out.

Hell yeah, SR has been a favorite of mine since the first one. I prefer SR to GTA any day. SR does not look as nice and may lack a couple "cool" things GTA has but the game is fun from start to finish. I didn't even finish GTA4, played it for a couple weeks and returned it.

Not many games have been doing it for me lately, I have bought maybe 2-3 games the past year. Blac ops and I just copped EA MMA because I got it for $20. I will be waiting for SR though.

I always dug Saints Row more then GTA, it was the freedom of the game, being able to build a character from scratch as opposed to GTA's pre-set main character. And I dig how the game didn't take itself too serious, it always had a light hearted feel to it.

True.

And Grand Theft Auto has the polish, but lacks the fun.
grand theft auto is insanely fun

go back and play san andreas and you will see how that game is more fun, more polished, has a better story, better gameplay, vehicles, activities, secrets, soundtrack and weapons than anything saints row has ever done

gta san andreas alone blows both saints rows out the water

I will say San Andreas was one of the best sand box games out there but it's kind of on the oldschool tip now and I look forward to SR. If GTA could do a new San Andreas version that would be tight though.
