Man shot dead in Long Beach alley

LONG BEACH - Long Beach Homicide detectives are investigating the slaying of a Sacramento man who was gunned down in a local alley late Monday.
Police were in the 700 block of Pacific Coast Highway at about 10:23 p.m. when they found the victim, said Lisa Massacani, a Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman. | POLICE NEWS
Officers began CPR until paramedics arrived and took over life saving efforts, Massacani said.
The victim, however, was pronounced dead a local hospital shortly after arrival, she said.
The shooting was believed to have been done by one or two male suspects, though no suspect description was available Wednesday, Massacani said.
The motive for the attack also remained under investigation, she said.
The victim's name was being withheld Wednesday pending notification of his family, said Los Angeles County Coroner Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
Winter said the victim was from Sacramento and was in his 20 s.
