Very true

But Sac gets way overlooked when it comes to Rap music.
There's a lot of fools steppin their game WAY up, but will probably still go unrecognized because of the location. Plus, there's no local support from Radio, besides small mixshows on Sunday at 10pm when most of the city aint listenin. I aint knockin those shows, but even the Bay Area gets their locals in REGULAR rotation, right next to the majors. We don't have that here.

NOT TRUE.

96.5 fm KNOZ(916-)RADIO, IS THE REASON YOU ARE HEARING THESE "OTHER " MIXSHOWS ON THE TOP 40 STATIONS.

THE SIGNAL IS NOT BIG, BUT THE INTEGRITY OF THE STATION IS HUGE .

IN FACT , YOU CAN TUNE IN RIGHT NOW AND LISTEN TO THEIR 24/7 NOR-CAL HIP HOP AND R& B FORMAT RIGHT NOW IF YOU'RE IN THE DOWNTOWN/MIDTOWN/WILLIAM LAND AREA.

PEACE.

We need more shit like that tho.

And I aint sayin sac is boring and this and that, it just aint the easiest place to break into the biz from.
And good lookin C-Dubb, I hear you out there grindin like me, that's the only way. You gotta get it how you live

SacTown pimp, you need to calm yourself, coming here heated from the get go. I didn't insult you, and I didn't insult sac-town, so for you to just come in here talkin shit about me is retarded of you.

And then you try saying that everything you can do in LA, u can do in sac...lOl, NOW thats retarded!

Trust me homie, I go to LA every 3 months or so, i've been to a few release parties and met tons of celebrities through a few of my connections...so dont go and try tellin me that sac is just as hype as LA. oh, thats definately not the case...not to mention the population there is about 10x bigger

and yeah, I agree 100% with vince v. its definately how u make it, and artists are definately raising up their game now

sac has fine women, good weed, rivers, lakes, everything is close(within two hours, tahoe, the bay, theforest, reno) it's just a little too fucking hot in the summers. If you are not a content person then a change of scenery won't necessarily make you happy. good luck with the music though, cause sac doesn't support it too much (holdyoubackramento)

Sac is boring if... you a club ass nigga tired of getting bullied around. Life is what you make it, Sac ain't poppin on the radio, because everybody refuses to suck they dicks. Our radio stations are so concerned with ASCAP, BMI, and the FCC rather than capitlizing off unmined diamonds in the ruff. You gotta buy a D.J a drink and tell em how they commericalized mixing is so tight for em go out on limb for you. The day's of latenite sessions on "102.5" freestyles are gone. They're trying to come back... so let's give it a minute. I got faith in alot of this new & old talent breaking thru the surface. We(Sac) are attracting a lot of new found attention from niggas worldwide. Pretty soon someone is going to bring home a championship ring( gold or Platinum plaque).

by the way beatz, i could give a fuck about celebrities. You are talking of LA like its something special because "you can meet lots of celebrities"

you think that makes a city cool? celebs are the same people as us, and you dont have to suck their dicks

we can have fun in sac without to celebs nigga

yea i feel you who gives a fuck if there are a lot of celebrities in LA..........and another that makes me mad is the radio stations in sac play bay music on the regular now i think its fucked they show more love to the bay than sac artists they even get bay artists to do remixes of a song like when they got EA Ski to do the remix for his song for 103.5 why dont they get a sac artist or something

real talk mane.

I used to co-host the Flava show with Ebro, and we used to freestyle on air, and in the parking lot afterwards FOR HOURS. It was real peace too. On any given night, you'd be outside freestylin' with Soul Clap, the CUF, E-Train, Dre-D, Tri-numbskulls, Lynch, the Socialistics, and R-Dot (God Bless the dead). I mean...the scene was just bubblin', and it SUCKED that we couldn't play ANY local music. That was a big disappointment for me, because I got into radio in order to promote local artists, but I soon learned the ways of the radio world. No ends, no spins. I HATED the fact that I had to play Skee-Lo, Vanilla Ice, and Snow, but I couldn't play anything local. I remember how excited we were, because we had recieved a clean copy of C-BO's "Groovin' on a Sunday." Took it into a music meeting, and it got shot down in favor of Lighter Shade of Garbage's "Crusin' on a Sunday." WTF!!! I played the joint regardless, and the phones went crazy...unfortunately so did the Boss. I got fired for that shit, even though C_BO's song recorded over 150 requests in a 2 hour span, AWOL wasn't spending any money on advertising, so NO SPINS. WOW.

That was the basis of a gang of us starting up local stations like CPR 100.1 in Oak Park, 107.1 in Meadowview, 92.9 off of Franklin, and KNOZ Downtown (forgive me for not recalling your frequency)...giving the PEOPLE what they want to hear AND supporting LOCAL businesses and artists. Let me tell you this, I've done WAY more shows with and had way more support from artists doing pirate radio, than with a licenced station. I got Twista to rock 2 songs at Melarkey's for an 1/8th, for cryin' outloud!!

Suga Free, B-Legit, The Dogg Pound, Whoridas, DJ Rectangle, Jon B, and Twista all came here to Sac to do shows with us, and the other stations in town HATED it. We took the Mossie to Rancho Arroyo one night....nuff said. This is the type of shit that mainstream radio DOESN'T do....build relationships with the artists and most importantly, the community. These artists KNEW that their songs wer getting PLAYED and HEARD on the pirate stations, and would come thru whenever they could WITHOUT label support, just for hood love.

Show love to KNOZ and give them you're support, because they are TRULY the people's station.

Peace.

@ Beto916... man, you took the words outa my mouth. I used to wait up to hear Dre-D/Lynch on 102.5 back in the day. You're so right, we need to promote the outlets that we do have to make it official. my D.J spin's at Getta Clue and he sells the mixtapes all day. So "SAC NIGGAZ" you can get the True Rhyme & Grand Theft Audio Mixtapes from D.J Riipp-1 at Getta Clue in Downtown Plaza. I'm from the years of Top 10 music, Premeir Music(Northgate & Watt), The Underground, etc. My mixtapes aren't just me, shit I just drop a verse or two and the rest is for the unda dogs of this City.
