Rob Van Dam made his return after his thirty day suspension yesterday in a live event for ECW in Poplar Bluff, MO. However, his night was not a very good one as he suffered a neck injury during his match against Kurt Angle. Angle shot RVD back in a German suplex and the former champ landed right on his neck. Van Dam continued for a while and eventually the two cut it short and went to the finish which saw Angle hooking the ankle lock for submission. No word if this injury will keep RVD off television or future ECW live events yet.

Kinda shitty for him. I wouldn't expect something like this happening with two ring veterans but I guess it just goes to show you that anyway can make a mistake.

The German isn't really the problem though, as if done the normal way, all the impact is recieved by the Shoulder Blades and virtually harmless. It's really only when they land high that it becomes a problem. But in the same since, a standard Suplex can get fucked up so should it be banned aswell?

^If these guys knew how to take their bumps then they wouldn't get hurt. Look at the shit they let them get away with on TNA. That crazy flip piledriver that i think AJ Styles does, that shit looks like you can hurt someone hella bad if you miscalculate

Powerbombs aren't Banned. You do know that 'Tista's & JBL's finishers (atleast one of them) are both Powerbombs.

As for the Piledriver, same thing applies that dude just said above, if the wrestlers knew how to do them properly then the risk of injury would be slim to none. Though, it's very easy for someone to fuck up a Piledriver and for that reason it's been banned. Though, the German has a far less likely chance of injury compared to the Piledriver because with the German, your intended to land on your Shoulder Blades as opposed to "landing" on your head with the PD.

As for moves not being outlawed in TNA when they are in WWE, alot of it has to do with Vince being a smart business man. You know how devistating it would be to have a Rock or Triple H suddenly be sidelined because someone botched a move that's risky to begin with? It could be devistating to the ratings, to business as usual and overall, devistating to Vince's pockets.

Though, I'm sure there is some concern for the wrestlers in Vince's decision to ban certain moves. Though, I do agree that it's gone too far, look at the Cruiserweights... they are highly restricted in what they can do on the top rope.

Then again, Vince fucked up the "Cruiserweight" Division a LONG time ago. You remember back to the Cruiser matches from WCW... they were fast paced, lots of reversals and overall contrasted with the "Normal" wrestling very well for a great affect. Vince's vision of "Cruiserweights" is no different then the "Light Heavyweight" division of old. He seriously needs to let the Cruisers go in the ring and let them do what they do best.

Well, if Vince was smart, he'd soften up his ring, and not have a ring that was almost as hard as a boxing ring, that way a lot less people would get long term neck injuries from taking a million bumps and german suplexes.. All of the guys who take Germans on a regular basis are getting neck injuries.. Angle & Benoit for example.

And once you get into the WWE, everybody should be able to take pildrivers.. I haven't seen anybody in TNA recieve a botched piledriver or anything like that.

The cruiserweights used to be exciting because they could go out and do anymoves and whatever just putting on fast paced matches, but they don't allow that.

And they only allow people to use Powerbombs for finishing moves...

But, I would think you could fuck up your neck a lot worse from a chairshot then a piledriver anyways.

Angle's Neck problem stems from way back in '96 though. Tazz' also stems from his ECW days so you can't blame it all on WWE, it's just a matter of them reagrevating the injury.

And as far as the people in WWE not botching, even people in TNA can, just because it hasn't happened doesn't mean it won't. All it would take is for someone to step wrong during a move or slightly lose a grip and it could unravel from there.
