I was watching CBS last night, and it had a segment about this political group that is emerging throughout Russia and the former Soviet Union.
They name themselves after Hitler's 'National Socialist Party' Basically it is a growing group of Neo-Nazi's who's numbers are growing everyday--estimates in the 10's of thousands... They are growing due to a widespread phenomena of ethnic intolerance throughout the region. One survey estimated that almost 50% of the population does not object to ethnic intolerance...
The Russian National Socialist oftern go around filming themselves randomly assulting (sometimes fatally) anyone who's ethnicity is not white/aryan, (i.e muslim, black, jew, armenian, asain, ect...) They do not fear dieing themselves, and have no fear of the law, according to one of the leaders in an interview. Unfortuneately, its quite the opposite about the law fearing them...
It is becoming a real problem over there, and from what I understand people who hold conflicting views are becoming more and more in fear...
These violent outbreaks and hatecrimes in conjunction with this growing group is detrimental to their overall society for a mryiad of reasons... It's so senseless and bewildering, b/c the soviet union has been undergoing a mass decline in population, and this sure ain't the best way to get people to immigrate to there...
The other irony that strikes me is the fact that the Nazi's demolished some 20,000,000-40,000,000 russians during WWII, and now these nutbags are trying to relive their ideals....
Anyway, if anyone has any additional info on the Russian National Socialist Party, I'd be interested in reading. I haven't found much online, and I don't really feel like clicking on their website and putting myself on some watchlist... anyway, I'm curious for any additional info. or insight...
