Who wants to call it?
HONOLULU, Hawaii (CBS) ―
Reports out of Hawaii on Wednesday evening indicated that conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh was hospitalized in serious condition after suffering chest pains.
An ambulance rushed Limbaugh from the Kahala Hotel and Resort to Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu about 2:40 p.m. island time, according to a blog posting by CBS station KPIX-TV partner Politico.
CBS News could not immediately confirm the report, however CBS affiliate KGMB-TV in Honolulu said sources had confirmed to the station that Limbaugh was indeed hospitalized in serious condition.
Queen's hospital officials did not respond to KPIX-TV e-mails seeking information about Limbaugh's condition. Hospital spokeswoman N. Makana Shook told the Associated Press that the hospital was unable to comment.
Emergency Medical Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic said paramedics took a man to the hospital from the hotel -- but he said he did not know the victim's identity.
Limbaugh was said to be vacationing in Honolulu for the holidays, ironically at the same time President Obama is also visiting there.
The 58-year-old Limbaugh was seen golfing at Waialae Country Club earlier this week. The country club is next to the Kahala Hotel and Resort.
For guest privacy reasons, hotel spokeswoman Sheila Donnelly Theroux said she was unable to acknowledge that Limbaugh is a guest.
The Hawaii Republican Party said while it had not had any direct contact with Limbaugh, party officials were aware that he was in the state and said he had also apparently stayed for a few days in Kona, near where U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D - San Francisco) had traveled.
Limbaugh has visited Hawaii before, most recently in September when he posted pictures online of himself golfing.
The fiery talker also has a background of health issues.
