lol this is like boxing's revenge for James Toney losing to Couture...

"If he wants me to come in there and give him a try at it, but if he want it that bad, I might give it to Kimbo. It's a great opportunity for him. It's a great fight for Florida. Boxing needs all it can get right now, so if the fans get interested in wanting to see that, we can do that." - Roy Jones

So Gary Shaw is supposedly going to be promoting Kimbo? LOL...anyways...I think Kimbo was better suited for a boxing career than he was for MMA. I'll always pull for Kimbo, because he's a good guy, and is humble...but I don't think he will ever be more than a heavyweight journeyman/freak show.

If boxing was 3 rounds and as long as there aren't any homosexual limp wristed jabs coming his way, I agree he'd be fine.

and for the record I aint hatin on kimbo either he's just trying to make it in this world and anyone who fights and puts their health on the line should be respected

^ I am. Toney isn't an MMA fighter. He's a boxer fighting in an MMA fight. Not against some scrub, but to someone who even at his age, is one of the best MMA fighters in the world. RIP James Toney

That being said, I do give Toney credit for stepping up and taking the fight...but then again...what were his other options? He couldn't land a boxing match, and he probably wants to milk his name until he can't anymore.

I dont think the fight will happen. No one wants to see Kimbo box and RJJ can't even sell many seats himself anymore.

On a side note, Kimbo has a better chance at beating Randy than Toney does.

well I'm sure Kimbo's first fight would be like a 4 round fight. You don't go straight to 10 round fights (and 12 is for title fights).

So he would likely start out 4 rounders, to 6, to 8, to 10. Well that's the typical way you advance in boxing but for circus acts it could be different for example Butterbean never fought more than 4 round fights and he fought like 75 times.

Roy is so damn shot I think Kimbo will KO him. Damn Roy why?? You was one of my favorites. On another note Toney is going to lose, he is not in any type of shape. If Randy fights smart it should be a easy win by TKO.

Kimbo can make money boxing cans just off his name, just like Butterbean did. Kimbo will never be a threat to the top HW's or any top guy for that matter, but hey at least he will be making money.

I personally do not care for Kimbo but can't hate on anyone getting money.

lol @ kimbo being an mma fighter. he's done nothing but fail in the sport & proved he's nothing more than a street fighter. rjj vs kimbo would be a wayyyy bigger waste of time than toney vs couture. surprised the idea would even be entertained..

shit, kimbo could get out-boxed by even a slightly above average mma striker, so of course he can't hang with any real boxer like that.

Kimbo would fall to most of the guys that Butterbean was put up against. In fact he'd be one of the guys that get put in with someone like Bean just to get crushed. Butterbean could take a decent punch when he was fighting .. I can't say the same for Kimbo.

He'd get some wins over some winless guys .. he'd have to fight the absolute bottom of the barrel to even make it to 10-0.

the reason the thought is even being entertained is that they are both from Florida and I'm sure they would sell some decent tickets.

Yeah, I don't really think Kimbo was an MMA fighter as much as he was just a guy who gave MMA fighting a shot. Before that he was more of a shitty boxer/street fighter.

Seth Petruzelli TKO'd Kimbo in what, 14 seconds? Lol.

lol this is like boxing's revenge for James Toney losing to Couture...

only problem is Kimbo wasnt really an MMA fighter. remember when anderson wanted to fight RJJ but dana wouldnt let it happen. now that would be interesting but i still think RJJ would win, but anderson trains like a boxer most of the time noe so i think he would atleast put up a good fight and actually try to get in shape for it

Kimbo would get destroyed if this ever happened, he's too slow for not rjj but anyone he fights, he's always flat footed too when he throws a punch
