JERUSALEM — Israeli TV stations are reporting that a rocket fired from Gaza has exploded in a shopping center in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon. Channel 2 TV reported that an unknown number of people have been injured.
The rocket attack Wednesday afternoon came as U.S. President George W. Bush wrapped up talks in Jerusalem with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
Olmert told Reuters that the Islamist rulers of the Gaza Strip must halt attacks on Israel or risk military action on a hitherto unseen scale.
