I'm just wondering what songs you guys think have an amzing guitar riff/solo/overall skill in it.

Mine:

Converge "Heaven in her arms"

Suicidal Tendencies "Institutionalized"

Lagwagon "Mr. Coffee" (I'm sure a lot of you will be like WTF is a punk song doing on here, but I think this song is pretty dope)

Dillinger Escape Plan "Mullet Burden"

Fall of Troy "F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X."

Any song by The Locust. You'll have to see them live to realize how sav Bobby Bray really is.

PLEASE DON'T TURN THIS THREAD IN TO A HATING THREAD

More or less anything by The Fall of Troy. Anything by Jimi Hendrix. Anything by Alice In Chains (Jerry Cantrell is the man!)

Smashing Pumpkins - Geek U.S.A.

Rage Against the Machine - Bulls On Parade and Killing in the Name Of.

Early Eric Clapton stuff too (his work with The Yardbirds, Cream and his early solo work.)

Anything by Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Cemetery Gates - Pantera

Sorry I didn't list more actual songs. All the ones I just named bands and/or guitarist for was too hard to narrow down lol.

I've always loved Kirk Hammet's work on "One" by Metallica. I wouldn't consider myself the most astute guitar aficianado, though. I just haven't been a follower of rock long enough.....

"In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion" by Agalloch (amazing guitar work throughout the song, especially the classical guitars)

"Orion" by Metallica (lots of guitar solos, plus a bass solo)

"Open the Grave" by Heathen

"Vacation" by John Mayall (great song, basically a 2.5 minute guitar solo)

"Tales of Brave Ulysses" by Cream (I believe the first ever song with the wah pedal going the whole time)

"Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts I-V" and "Time" by Pink Floyd

Thanks everyone for you respones. I'll be checking them all out when I get around to it.

Just remembered about Phish. Their studio albums are garbage but their live stuff is some pretty sick stuff. They got like 10 minute guitar solos pretty much. It's also some great music to put in if you're gettin blazed.

Edit: Good call on that Metallica song "One" Cranky. Totally slipped my mind.
