SAN BERNARDINO -- Two people, including a child, were killed and three were wounded when a gunman on a bicycle opened fire in a Del Taco restaurant in Riverside Saturday afternoon.
The shooting happened around 1:15 p.m. at 2007 Highland Avenue, near Sterling Avenue, according to police.
Police say a man on a bicycle went inside the restaurant and opened fire on a man, a woman, and her young two sons who were eating lunch together before turning the gun on himself.
The adult male victim died at the scene and an 8 year old boy died at an area hospital, according to reports.
The woman and her 5 year old son were rushed to an area hospital in critical condition.
The gunman was in critical condition after he shot himself in the head. He was taken to a hospital where he later died of the wound.
Officials originally believed the incident to be an attempted robbery gone wrong, but are now investigating the shooting as a domestic violence situation.
Authorities are still unsure of the relationship between the gunman and the four people he wounded and killed.
The suspect is believed to be a local resident
