Rising Atlanta, Georgia rapper Gucci Mane is expected to surrender to Atlanta authorities today to answer an alleged murder charge.

Sources told AllHipHop.com that, Gucci Mane (real name Radric Davis) was involved in an altercation with five attackers last Tuesday in Decatur, Georgia.

The rapper is riding the waves of his hit single "So Icy" and, at the time, was making press rounds promoting his album Trap House, which is slated to hit stores next Tuesday (May 24).

Reports stated that the incident may have occurred on Tuesday May 10. But, about a day after taping BET's Rap City, he was forced to turn himself in to Georgia authorities.

While details are sketchy, sources stated that the rapper may have been in the area to visit a female acquaintance when he was accosted by the five men.

On Friday May 13, officials reportedly discovered a corpse near Columbia High School in Decatur, Georgia.

After an investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Davis.

"Big Cat Records informed Davis who responded with full cooperation and immediately returned to Atlanta, postponing further promotional engagements," a Big Cat Records representative said in a statement released to AllHipHop.com.

The rapper was recently involved in a war of words with Atlanta rapper, Young Jeezy, after the two collaborated on various songs.

The two released a series of diss records and while the two were verbally feuding, sources stated Jeezy appeared on local Atlanta radio denying any connection to the incident.

Rapper Radric "Gucci Mane" Davis may be released as early as tomorrow (May 23), after the upcoming rapper was hit with a murder charge last week.

Details are emerging in the shooting which took place on May 10th in Decatur, Georgia and left one man dead.

At a press conference last week before surrendering to authorities, Davis’ lawyer Dennis Scheib said Davis acted in self-defense, after he was allegedly set-up by a female acquaintance.

Scheib said Davis was in the woman's apartment when five men burst into the house with guns threatening to duct-tape the rapper and shoot him.

“One of them had green duct tape, one had brass knuckles, and one had a weapon,” Scheib said. “My client was hit with brass knuckles and his friend was hit with a weapon. One of the alleged assailants yelled 'shoot him' and he [Davis] grabbed a gun near by to defend himself.”

Davis traded fire with one of the men and fled. According Scheib, Davis did not know any one was wounded by the gunfire.

“It wasn't until I called him and informed him there was a warrant out for his arrest on murder charges did he become aware of the situation," Scheib said.

The man that was killed was identified as Henry “Pookie Loc” Clark, a member of Macon, Georgia rap group Locust Lifestyle.

Clark’s body was found in a wooded area near Columbia Middle School. Police have not released details on what linked Davis to Clark's murder as of press time.

Scheib, who was armed during the press conference, said that he believed the attackers were associated with Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy, with whom Davis had been feuding after the two recorded the single "So Icey" together.

"I think police need to look deeper into this case instead of just looking into my client," Scheib said.

Representatives for both Davis and Young Jeezy appeared on WMKS 92.3 in Macon, Georgia on May 19th, the day of Clark’s funeral. Jeezy denied involvement on the radio last week and according to radio reps, was among those in attendance when Clark was laid to rest.

Davis was in New York promoting his upcoming album, Trap House, which is slated to be released next week. When he found out about the murder charges being levied against him, he returned and surrendered to authorities voluntarily.

A bond hearing has been scheduled for July 5, but Scheib said he was hopeful Davis could be released as early as Monday (May 23rd).

Davis will remain in DeKalb County Jail until the bond hearing takes place.

A Dekalb County, Georgia judge set a $100,000 bond for rapper Radric “Gucci Mane” Davis, who is accused of murdering a man during an altercation on May 10.

Davis is expected to post the $100,000 bond and be released from a Dekalb County prison today (May 24).

Davis is accused of murdering a man, after an altercation took place inside a home of a female acquaintance that Davis was visiting with another friend.

According to Davis’ lawyer Dennis Scheib, five men burst into the apartment, assaulted Davis and the unidentified friend and threatened to shoot Davis.

Davis grabbed a gun on a nearby table and traded fire with the men. Three days later, the body of Henry "Pookie Loc" Clark, a member of a rap group known as Loccish Lifestyle, was found in a wooded area near Columbia Middle School.

“As much as I want to be celebrating my album [titled Trap House] release party rather than sitting alone in a cell that I don’t belong, I can’t feel sorry for myself [because] a man lost his life,” Davis told AllHipHop.com in a statement

Lawyers for Davis said that they believed the attackers were associated with Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy.

Jeezy is a member of Boyz-N-The Hood, the Atlanta-based rap group that is signed to Sean “P. Diddy” Combs’ Bad Boy Entertainment. As a solo artist Jeezy is signed to Universal’s Island Def Jam imprint.

Jeezy has denied involvement in the shooting on local airwaves, but representatives for Big Cat Records and Davis' attorney said the altercation may have stemmed from a dispute over who owned the rights to the collaborative song “So Icy.”

“So Icy” features the two rising rappers before they became locked in a verbal dispute. The two recently traded disses and threats on the mixtape circuit.

Meanwhile, Davis’s label has offered a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the four other men that were involved in the altercation.

“As a God fearing person, I never wanted to see anyone die,” Davis said. “I found myself in a predicament and even though there was an attack on my life, I truly never intended to hurt anyone, I was just trying to protect myself.”
