djs arent paid to have talent anymore, plain and simple

djs are like mini promotion managers now

its not about them really its about the guy next to them

which in a way is how it started..but djs actually were incorperated in the music..

a dj is really only as dope as his crates to some extent, but there has to be some sort of ....indication that the dj is doing something besides playing a song and talking..

Hey einstein mixtapes been around since the 80s L.O.L.
there's been mixtapes since the beginning of hip-hop, but in their modern form they appeared after 2000, 50 Cent's mixes are the first one that I personally remember

Of course there were no mixtapes in 1979, but there were mixtapes in the mid-80s

And when I say mixtapes in the modern form, I mean the type of mixtapes that focus on one artist and/or have artwork

thank goodness for killing mixtapes. Is anybody here still gonna make em? Rapping over beats that been used and abused by other artists back to back to back? Its like when that "i got 5 on it song came out". 5 years later JD went ahead and made like 3 different remixes of the same fuckin beat. Then Timberland came out with that "night rider" beat. Then..... Buster Rhymes came out with a song with the same beat. Then...that Punjabi dude came out with the same beats with added indian percussion on it feat. Jay-z. Am i the only one that thinks that all that shit is gay? Holy Smokes!!

i remember when mixtapes were put together like compilations. It wasnt hosted by fuckin such and such, it was just the dj spinning the shit and mixing songs together. New fuckin songs, new beats, new lyrics. The mixtape i remembered that stood out from the rest was way back in like 98'. It had Cappadonna, CNN, Cormega, Ghostface, Mic Geronimo, Camp-Lo and a gang of others. This is when they were all new mc's and Wu-Tang was startin to do solo shit. Back when "hardcore hip hop" existed. Nowadays everybody's mixtapes is the same. Same fuckin beats, might as well spit the same fuckin rhymes. "I got jewelry, cars, sell more cocaine then Escobar, Montana, and Sosa put together". Throw a little ad-lib here and there. Hooray! Thats too bad though, cuz now everybody gotta rap about the same shit to feel like they're hip. If not ur labeled backpacker or considered a nerd rapper. There's like 1,000,000 independent record labels and like 999,996 of em are garbage.
I give props to Crazy Tunes though, that mixtape is dope. He did it old school style. Sheeeeeeyit!!!!!!!
