PITTSBURG -- A 31-year-old man was shot and killed this morning after an argument in front of an apartment complex, making him the city's first homicide of the year, police said.
Officers responded to calls around 4:30 am. reporting shots fired at the Woodland Hills apartment complex near Railroad Avenue and Buchanan Road, said Pittsburg police Lt. Brian Addington.
They found Jumaane Edwards of Pittsburg lying in front of the complex suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Mt. Diablo Medical Center in Concord, where he died.
Addington said the shooting occurred in the midst of a domestic dispute between Edwards and another man in front of the complex, where Edwards was staying.
He also said the shooter left the scene in a four-door American-made sedan. No one else was struck by gunfire.
Police could not provide further details on the shooter, but said investigators are pursuing "promising" leads, Addington said.
