After the success of the nationwide compilation United Ghettos of America, Oakland native Yukmouth drops his third solo CD "Godzilla" on Rap-A-Lot Records. Yuk teams up with a number of producers and several guests such as Z-Ro, Devin the Dude, C-Bo and Techn9ne to provide his hardcore fanbase with another classic album to vibe with.

Yuk has continued to run with his oldschool "Operation Stackola" style flow, somewhat slower but more precise and clear than his "Thuglord" machine gun/ screaming flow. Although Yuk switched his style back on UGA, hearing it again is still very refreshing and exciting.

Whats missing from those "Operation Stackola" days are the hood stories that Yuk told so well. As opposed to "Rescue 911" or "5150" from the old days, or even "Desparado" or "Costa Nostra" from UGA, Yuk changed his format to mobbed out anthems and radio friendly singles. Those impressed by Yuks rythmatic storylines with find sanctuary in "Money and Power," a Scarface themed drug dealing tale. However, the new themed songs arent nessecarily bad, just different. "Somebody Gon Die Tonight," featuring Techn9ne, Fatal, the Realest and Benjilino brings some of the hardest MCs together on one track, spitting flames on a beat reminiscent of 2pac's in his All Eyes on Me days. "Regime Mobstaz" featuring Yuks group the Regime is another bangin anthem, as well as Yuks basketball themed "Go Hard" (in the paint).

Pistol Play and mobbed out cuts have been replaced with more radio friendly, well produced slams. "Stuntastic," Yuks tribute to throwbacks, AF1's and numerous other expensive trends slaps with a St. Lunatic style feel. "Nothin 2 a Boss," Yuks first single, will also keep the club slammin with its bouncy beat and smooth chrous. However, tracks like "Be Easy," and "Model Chicks" belong on an R Kelly CD... "Do My Thing" may be the most impressive track on the CD. Yuk, Roscoe and Kurupt each spit flowamatic gangsta funk to a guitar and horn themed beat.

The bottom line is Yukmouths new CD adds to his legacy of consistently superior albums, beats, and lyrics. All around Yuk shows he is still one of the Westcoast bosses and King of Oakland. Minus 3 or 4 tracks, "Godzilla" is still one of the most solid cds released this year. This CD is a definite pickup for any bay area or Yukmouth fan, but also has the versatility to appeal to fans of other genres of rap music.

"Raider throw back to match the black Jacob, Black fitted hat to match the black Raider the batch the playa snatch ya Biatch scratch ya gatorz..."

"The thuglord Ayattolah roll with 12 disciples, one hand held the bible one hand held the rifle, all hail my arrival from VL, disciples, to crips and pirus and rivals, run for suvival its murder and mayhem, the birds on the greyhound from the curb in they town, get served and sprayed down, pounds of herbs get braked down, the cops wanna search and shake down..."

Overall: 8/10
