SARKASTIK-"NO GIMMIKS, NO IMAGE, STRAIGHT LYRIKS"
Review by: Sixxness |
Sarkastik-"No Gimmiks, No Image, Straight Lyriks"
STREET LEVEL RECORDS
www.streetlevelrecords.com

1. No Gimmiks, No Image, Straight Lyriks- Tight beat laced by D-Sane. This is obviously the title track, and Sarkastik puts it down on this track. His aggressive style and voice go well with the beat. This is a good first track. 8/10

2. I'm- This is a tight beat laced by Funk Daddy. Sarkastik eats up this beat real well. Talkin about who he is, hense the songs name. This is one of my favorite tracks on this album. 8/10

3. Blaze Blocks- This is a faster paced, hard hittin beat laced by Mr. D-Sane. Sarkastik spits a little bit faster over this beat and spits nothin' but heat throughout this track. 8/10

4. I've Been Gone- The beat starts out with a heart beating, then starts into the actual beat. The beat seems to be missing something to me. It's a cooh beat, but not my favorite. However, the lyrics on this song make up for the lacking beat. Sarkastik comes real tight on this track. 7/10

5. Mr. Troy- Another tight beat, some hard hittin rap shit laced by D-Sane. Sarkastik's style fits this beat very well in my opinion. He's got that rugged voice with the aggressive flow, and it matches the beat perfectly. This is a tight ass cut. 9/10

6. End of My Rope- Another sick ass beat laced by D-Sane. It's got a commercial type feel to it, but it's still a savage beat. Sarkastik once again comes tight on this track. He rides the beat perfectly and spits some tight ass lyrics. This is just another one of the slumps on the album. 9/10

7. Therapy Pt. 1- Intro of the song is real tight. The beat is pretty tight, its got a different feel than the rest of the beats. Sarkastik comes with more heat on this track. He's just straight clownin' on this track. 8/10

8. My Main Girl feat. The Koalition- This is a slower to medium paced beat. It's got an R&B feel to it. Not really feelin the beat. Sarkastik comes tight on this track tho, the lyrics never lack. This is a cooh weed song lyricly, but the beat didn't impress me that much. 6/10

9. This Evening feat. 151, Savell, & K.J.- This is a layed back hip-hop/R&B style beat. The beat is cooh and the singing on this track is tight. Everyone that spits a verse on this track comes tight. They all bring their own style to the track, and when it's all combined it makes a tight song. 8/10

10. That's My Dream- Filthy beat...some shit that really compliments Sarkastik's whole style. Sarkastik came sick on this cut as he always does. This is one of my favorite songs on the album. The song talks about what his "dreams" are.
10/10

11. No 1 Live As Me- This is a harder rap beat laced by D-Sane once again. Sarkastik's style and D-Sane's beats always go together well. Sarkastik spits some raw shit on this track. This is a sick ass track. 9/10

12. Underground Success feat. Skuntdunanna- This is a pretty tight beat laced by Skunt aka Mafia. Sarkastik and Skunt both come filthy on this track, this is definately one of my favorite songs on the album. 10/10

13. Krackin'- Darker, rap/rock-ish style beat. I'm not really diggin the beat, but it goes well with Sarkastik's voice. Sarkastik spits heat on this track as well, even though the beat isn't the best, his lyrics make up for it. 7/10

14. Infectious Game feat. Syko & Crytical- This is a real filthy beat by D-Sane. Crytical starts out this track with some heat, a very good start to the song. Syko comes next on the line and as usual, he spits a savage verse. After the chorus, Sarkastik comes in rippin' shit up. This track is hard as fuck. I'm diggin it 206%! 10/10

15. World of Hate feat. Wanz-The beat starts out feelin' eerie and then it starts beatin. This is a real tight beat once again by D-Sane. Sarkastik's voice and style sound perfect over this beat. Wanz adds his sick ass vocals on this one, which makes the song even better. 10/10

16. One Mo Gin- This is another hard ass beat laced by D-Sane. I'm diggin this beat especially with Sarkastik spittin to it. This track just comes off raw as fuck for some reason, another one of my favorite songs. 10/10

17. Therapy Pt. 2- The beat for this has a harder, hip-hop feel to it, but it's pretty savage. Sarkastik rides the fuck out of the beat and spits fire all over the track. I'm feelin this track more so than Pt. 1. 9/10

18. I'm Right Here- This beat has a eerie feeling to it, hard hittin, some of that sick ass D-Sane shit. Sarkastik comes raw as fuck on this track, it's unbelievable that he can come tighter on each song. This is by far my favorite song on this album. A perfect end to a savage ass album. 10/10

Overall, this is a hard (solid) album. I'm feelin' it to the fullest and I recommend that everyone swoop this shit. I am very impressed with Sarkastik's skills on this album.

Review by Tony206
Artist: Sarkastik
Album: No Gimmiks, No Image, Straight Lyriks
STREET LEVEL RECORDS

1. No Gimmiks
Great way to start the album. It immediately sets the tone. The beat from D-Sane is knocking. Tight X-Raided sample for the chorus. Sarkastik is talking about his lyrics and just giving it to you straight. The only problem is that I wish it was longer because its so tight but it’s the intro so whatever. 9.5/10

2. I’m
The beat by Funk Daddy is real hard. Sarkastiks lyrics are hard also, they fit the beat perfectly. Tight chorus. Hes rapping about what he is and does. Great samples at the end of the song from a few of his old songs on the Sarkazm cd. One of my favorites on the whole cd. I can bump it all day. 10/10

3. Blaze Blocks
Another tight song. The beat from D-Sane is banging once again and it will get you energized and just nodding your head. Hard lyrics once again. On this song he is talking about what he does on his block. I can also bang out this cut everyday. 10/10

4. I’ve Been Gone
The beat from Sarkastik this time is slower and has a dark feeling to it. His delivery really fits the beat. I’m digging the sound effects. One of my favorite lines on this song “Fuck a punch line, fuck a freestyle/ I’ll punch you in the eye and we’ll see if your doctor bill is free now.” This ones talking about how hes been gone but he hasn’t stopped paying his dues and what others have been doing bad. I’m feeling it once again. 9/10

5. Mr. Troy
This ones about him being Kastor Troy but you gotta call him Mr. Troy. Hes not just your average person. His delivery is coming hard again, whaddaya expect? The beat from D-Sane is pretty good and it has a dark feeling to it again. Still feeling it. 9/10

6. End Of My Rope
The beat was made by Sarkastik and starts out pretty good. Hes talking about being at the end of his rope and losing faith. Also some stuff that has gone wrong. “Now I’m in White Center with a red belt and khakis/I’m running for my life ‘cause the Asians is shooting at me” was a good line. It was also pretty funny when the beat stopped and his mom yelled at him to take out the garbage. The lyrics are really good are some are sort of funny. I’ll be bumping this a lot. 9/10

7. Therapy Pt. 1
It begins with a psychiatrist talking to him telling him that he is very irrational and asks him why he is so mad which is pretty funny. Sarkastik is talking about why he needs therapy. He can’t take it and is frustrated with a lot of things. The beat is pretty coo, it fits his style real well once again. I’m feeling it. 9/10

8. My Main Girl featuring Koalition
This is a weed song. Mary Jane is his main girl. “Now I got you back, and I don’t know how to act/ when I see you banging that see through skirt I call sack” is one of my favorite lines. The beat from Scronnie Johnny, D-Skeem and Sarkastik is on point, mellower on this one. I’m feeling it. 9/10

9. This Evening featuring 151, Savell & K.J.
Not feeling the beat as much on this one. This is a club song where Sarkastik is talking about what he’s going to do for the night. His lyrics are on point and I’m feeling them, I’m just not feeling the beat as much or the chorus. I’ve heard 151 spit better. Overall it’s an alright song. 7/10

10. That’s My Dream
This song also appears on Bullets North Coast Rain. This song is pretty hysterical. In the chorus he talks about wanting plastic surgery on his nose, wanting cars, sold out shows and money. This was pretty funny “Now I’m all screwed, grew up without the dude/always confused not knowing it’s wrong to walk around nude” The beat from Sarkastik is tight. I’m feeling it. 10/10

11. No 1 Live As Me
The D-Sane beat starts out tight. The lyrics are tight. He’s talking about no one being as live as him. The chorus is tight, he spits pretty hard. Overall another tight song. I’m feeling it. 10/10

12. Underground Success featuring Skuntdunanna
Skunt spits first. His lyrics are one of the tightest in the northwest. This verse makes me want his album even more which I’ll be getting asap. Sarkastiks lyrics are tight also. They’re talking about being themselves and underground successes. In the last verse they go back and forth which is tight. I’m feeling it. 9.5/10

13. Krackin’
The beat starts out hard. He talks about keeping it krackin’. He spits hard with the beat. Need I say more? I’m feeling it. 9.5/10

14. Infectious Game featuring Crytical & Syko
WOW!!! This beat is from D-Sane and is my favorite beat on the whole album which was pretty hard to choose since 90% of them knocked hard. Crytical spits first and he’s heated. Next is Syko with a tight verse, then Sarkastik. This is one of my favorite songs that any 3 of them have ever been on. They talk about rappers having infectious game and ruining it for others by all their hating. I’m feeling it. 10/10

15. World Of Hate featuring Wanz
Sarkastik starts spitting while the beat starts up. The beat by D-Sane is tight. Wanz sings on the chorus and is very good. I don’t like singing that much but Wanz is tight. Sarkastik talks about how the world has done him wrong. I’m feeling it. 9.5/10

16. One Mo Gin
The beat is alright, another dark feeling beat. Sarkastik comes with a lot of energy on the chorus. He’s basically at it again on a mission trying to get what he needs. I’m feeling it. 9/10

17. Therapy Pt. 2
The beat is different from Therapy Pt 1 and is tight. Once again he talks about needing therapy. Some lyrics are funny on this one too. I’m definitely feeling it. 9/10

18. I’m Right Here
The beat is very tight and will get your head nodding and feeling it. This song is in my top 3 favorites on the album. Sarkastik is talking about how hes here and wants other rappers/haters to bring it. It’s great song to end the album. 10/10

Overall 9.3/10
This cd is a Northwest classic. I can listen to the cd the whole way through. There was only one single song that I didn’t feel that much. Sarkastiks delivery, lyrics, and voice were on point. He never disappointed. This will be in play for months to come. I HIGHLY recommend this cd to anyone wherever you’re from. This is one of my favorite cds ever. The production on this was banging too. The beats were knocking. Congratulations to Sarkastik for his lyrics on this and D-sane and all the other producers for creating this masterpiece.

The following will be in my playlist till the day my casket drops: I'm, Blaze Blocks, I've Been Gone, Mr. Troy, End of my rope, This Evening, That's My Dream, No 1 Live As Me, Underground Success (MAJOR PROPS ON THE BEAT HERE SKUNT), World Of Hate, One Mo Gin, I'm Right Here... with the exception of a few songs, basically the whole album.

However, if I had to choose, say three of my favorite tracks, they would be: That's My Dream, I'm, and Underground Success...
