Living Legends-Almost Famous
2001 Legendary Music
1. Gotta Question 4 Ya- This is a decent start to the album. Several members of the crew rap to a funky cartoon like beat. The lyrics are very clever and the chorus is dope too. The only problem is that the track stops in between every rapper. It gets kind of annoying. 7/10
2. Night Prowler feat. Slug- This is a very kicked back beat with a hard base knock. The backround effects constantly change which proves very entertaining. The rappers on this track come pretty tight and the chorus is cool but nothing to be proud of. 7.5/10
3. That Looks Good- The rappers on this track talk about bitches that look lovely with STD's to the effects of X that no one really speaks on. The beat it pretty tight. Very hip hop like. I really like the use of the piano. 8.5/10
4. Black Glass- This is a classic track. Each rapper gets down and talks about mirrors, what would happen with them, without them, if they were tinted, about mirror images. Its a lyrical masterpiece. The beat is very basic and hip hop like relying heavily on the basic bass hit. 10/10
5. Rabbit Hole- The LL crew gets down on a fast paced foreign sounding track. They showcase their ability to flow but continue to bust mad ryhmes. An excellent track. 10/10
6. Common Ground- "Theres a Kid on the corner of his block, theres a genius in his room with a deep thought, Theres a grower on the farm with his crop, what they got- a little power unified to make a knot well of course and if a plan to expand is endorsed for some more to lend a hand pay attention...Explore we all in this people we all in this." The chorus fits the song perfect. The rappers go off on how people are very alike no matter where they are at. The beat is dope. Im lovin this one. 10/10
7. Flawless- This track has a smooth but quick paced beat. Again the rappers flow their ass off. The groups lyrics are very high caliber. Another tight track. 10/10
8. What Would I be- The members of the LL crew debate what would happen if they had the millions of other rappers, and whether or not they would stay true. The beat is quick and the flows are on point. Another good track. 9/10
9. Anything you want- Another cool track. Good flows, a dreamy sounding beat. They basically talk about "anything you want." 8/10
10. Gift Wrap- "Im about to give you that I live hip hop feelin" the track starts. The rappers go on about all the rappers they listened to and how important rap is to them. The Grouch's verse stands out. 10/10
11. War Games- The LL crew goes at it, dissing the Roots. Talking about the east coast: "I knew where the music came from I aint no lame dumb dumb." They continue to go on and talk about not getting radio play. A tight beat, very basic. 10/10
12. Forces of Nature- The crew doesnt dissapoint. More tight lyrics. The beat could use some work but the flows make up for it. Another pretty tight track as the rappers switch off every few bars. 8/10
13. Forces of Nature- Another very laidback hip hop type track. The flows are on point and lyrics do not dissapoint. Some fool starts rapping in Japanese or something, he kinda hurts the track. But then again, I dont know wtf he is saying. Not a stand out track but another good one. 7/10
14. Soap Boxin- Good lyrics but not as good as the rest of the cd in my opinion. Another basic beat. ok track. 7/10
15. Not Here- This beat is pretty tight. There is a weird sounding guitar that really gets your attention. The rappers on this one go all out. Good track. 8/10
16. Nothing Less- Another well done beat. No bass until one minute in but it helps emphasize flows. Flows for days on this track as well. Excellent. 10/10
This is a very good album. I advise buying this if you put you emphasis on LYRICS. These guys bring them. The overall feel of the album is concept like. What I mean is there is a general theme. These guys no they are tight, they no they are overlooked, but they know they need to keep doing there thizzle. They dont address a lot of street violence and club scene shit, more of it is shit that the average person can feel. A great album. Who says the Bay aint got hip hop?
Overall: 9/10
