REVIEW: On One (of Kane Related) - On One

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On One (of Kane Related) - On One
Available for only $6 by contacting AgentOnOne509 directly. He'll probably pop up to give you his e-mail address, but i can't find it right now.

Here goes.......

"Stack Your Ched" feat. Kane Related & Denovo
This album wastes no time and holds no punches. No cheesy intro, no "this is my life, feel my struggle"...just a straight up knock to start things out. This is, obviously, the track that would make the best single and the best live performance. If you were hustling this album to someone, this is for sure the track you would play first.

"Don't Trust You" feat. Kady Kane & Decurrian
Hands down, my favorite track from the album. The beat is just crazy, and On One understands the importance of a good vocal melody. Good balance of verses/features too: playa-like, mellow, then hype to round it out. You won't be disappointed by this one.

"Do It To Death" feat. Craziness & Overdoze
This track is straight-up ill; retarded if you ax me. Everybody kills it with their verses, and the chorus is stupid. Overdoze is the only thing that ruins the track...........j/k, playa!

"Burn" feat. Q-Sick
Try as i can, i never get sick of these "I'm the SHIT!" type tracks. Q-Sick and On One really lay it down to let all these dudes know it ain't a game. And with a beat this tight, once again Tyrant has me looking through my pocketbook for some extra money.

"Star Search" feat. Young Hogg & Budroe
Not much to say about this one. Its right inbetween 'filler' and a track i would put in regular rotation. And that is definitely a good thing. Tyrant definitely steals the show on this one with a tight beat.

"Hard Dayz Work" feat. Evidence
Beat reminds me of Ray J "Wait a Minute" meets Clipse "Grindin"...and it sure doesn't go to waste. Although i wouldn't make it a lead single, when putting together a live set, this song should definitely be included.

"Nerves"
On One certainly was on one (perhaps three) when he picked this beat out. Shit is stupid fresh. As the first solo track, it really changes the whole tempo of the album and reminds you that On One is about more than parties and battles. There's a whole world out there waiting to get got.

"Last Nite" feat. Tyrant
See above. The whole album chemistry has changed. Now we are greeted with a tale of a triflin ho who switches up as of 'last nite'. And i must say, i have seen this happen more than once. Tyrant makes a cool suprise appearance here, proving he's more than just a knob-turner and a key-presser.

"DNA" feat. On Two
The shift continues. Now we learn about how On One drinks and smokes crack but encourages the young'ins not to do the same. (Well, ok, maybe not crack, but lots of other ill shit.) Lots of cool vocal effects on the track, and the beat is real mellow.

"Triple Grand"
Ahhh...finally, the shit-talking side of On One returns, letting everyone know that while they're rapping for pussy...well, he really is in it mostly for the money.

"Saturday" feat. Tyrant & Overdoze
And now, the 180 is over: your brain can stop thinking and evolving because here comes another useless, unmeaningful but tight club track! If this one doesn't make your head nod and your bottom wiggle, then you need to eject this disk and put in some Hank Williams, you wuss.

"Legal Dope"
Quick question...why is it after 12 straight Tyrant tracks I'm not even the least bit bored yet? Anyhow...dude is rapping about the 'legal dope' game, which i will go out on a limb and say, must mean the rap biz. Yet another ill solo track that (IMO) belongs near the front.

"Societies Myth"
If i can pause this review for a second.....On one, you really gotta quit with that "microchips in children" stuff, you're freaking me out. I've looked at my wrist at least 14 times during this song. Continuing.....this is just another in a long stream of On One heat rocks tight shit phat tunes slumps, that deserves play in your hooptie. Holler at your boy.

"On One"
'Its the album...y'all been waiting for it'--Now, i'm no brain surgeon (yet), but shouldnt this song be Track 1? Aye, i got jokes. (What up 503Savage?) If i can return to sanity, just breifly.....this is the last track of the album, and is a gem. "I got molested!"...hahahahaha

BONUS TRACK: "Stack Your Ched (Remix)"
Same as track #1, but once again Overdoze ruins the song (without even being on it!). I suggest you skip past this one.....YAWN!!! Naw, the shit is tight. That'd be cool to see em perform live, and switch the beat up right in the middle.

Downside:::: The only real downside to this album is the number of features in the beginning; the first 6 tracks make the album seem more like a compilation than a solo LP. My advice would have been to, of course, re-arrange the tracks and put the solos towards the front and the rest towards the back.

Overall, this album got me acting stupid and thats all i care about. All you sappy ass, "this is my life" ass, "feel my pain" ass, "you think you know, but you have no idea" ass dudes need to QUIT NOW. Because albums like this will continue to put athletic footwear in your posterior for the 0-4 and beyond. Ya-nah-da-habla?

This is Jnasty also postin as Red Door. The On One album is hella tight. It has a sound you wouldnt expect to hear comin out of the 509. It has its own original style and creativity. Good to hear something fresh and new!
