From The Times Picayune:

A man was fatally shot Sunday in Gentilly, becoming the seventh person slain in four days in New Orleans.

As Michael Allen, 32, was getting out of a vehicle in the 4700 block of Miles Drive Sunday shortly before 1 p.m., a man approached and opened fire, New Orleans police said.

The gunman escaped on foot, and Allen died a short time later at University Hospital, police spokeswoman Sabrina Richardson said. An autopsy will be performed today.

Authorities think Allen lived in New Orleans, but an identification document listed an address in Atlanta, said chief coroner's investigator John Gagliano, who released his identity.

The killing occurred between Paris Avenue and Overton Drive, two blocks south of Mirabeau Avenue.

MAN FUCK!

Former Chopper City Boys group member Rapper VL Mike was shot to death earlier today (April 20) in New Orleans, AllHipHop.com has learned.

VL Mike, born Michael Allen, 32, was murdered when a man shot him to death, as he exited his vehicle between Paris Avenue and Overton Drive.

The rapper was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the gunman escaped on foot and have yet to release information on a suspect or a motive in the slaying, which was the city's seventh murder in the past four days.

VL Mike, who resided in New Orleans and Atlanta, was featured on The Chopper City Boyz' debut album We Got This and recorded tracks with rappers like Webbie and The Game.

He left The Chopper City Boyz shortly after the release of We Got This, after a falling out with leader B.G.

VL Mike recorded a diss record against B.G. titled "Ether."

He was rumored to be in negotiations with several labels to release his new album, including The Game's Black Wall Street.
