Slightly different idealogies but in recent times the two parties have become much more similiar then in the past. Its unfortunate in this country that for the most part we really only have 2 options, and that minor parties really don't have much of a say in government.

There is a tremendous difference between the parties. First you have very different economic issues and perspectives that drive the two parties; fueled by those who make campaign contributions. Secondly you have the “softer” social issues that in turn have a causable effect on our economy. This is why there is such a stalemate in determining the California budget. Neither party can agree how we should spend our Nation’s wealth. Such factors have influence on the affiliation one may have for a particular political party, however, there are some citizens that remain bipartisan.
