I just read a nice article about this. It's in German though, so I just translate some small parts that I thought were funny. This is from the probably most respected political magazine in Germany (Der Spiegel - English Website: http://www.spiegel.de/international/)

"The wonderful world of the Republicans: Africa is a country, the Taliban rule Libya, Muslims are terrorists, Immigrants are mostly criminals, Occupy-Protesters are dirty, etc."

"These 8 wannabe candidates are not only ruining their own and their parties reputation, but the reputation of the USA as a whole."

"They lie, pretend, rumble, and talk rubbish. And they prove a political, economical, geographical, and historical lack of knowledge, that make George W. Bush look like a scholar, and make even party friends cringe."

It goes on and one. I know that many here like Ron Paul. Nobody takes him serious outside of the US I guess.

"Ron Paul's fan base gets even more committed the more confused he talks."

What do you guys think about how the outside looks at these candidates?!

If by the "outside" you mean the rest of the world, the rest of the world has for a while had this stereotype of Americans as obese brainwashed semi-literate morons who are so ignorant about the world around them that a third of them think the Sun revolves around the Earth. A stereotype that didn't develop for no reason, BTW.

The current crop of Republican candidates fits very well into it so to the outside they are not that interesting and not enough attention is being paid. Which is a mistake because Bush was a good president compared to what's to come from someone like Perry, Bachman or Ron Paul

Singling out republicans on serves to strengthen the notion that there is any real difference between democrats and republicans, and that one is somehow better or worse than the other.
