This is it! Im sick of old ass Randy Couture's winning streak! Vitor Belfort is gonna put the hurt on this guy bigtime, Randy's a world class wrestler with exceptional standup and Vitor's a seasoned BJJ practitioner with explosive standup skills... so it should make for an interesting fight.

Heres the complete fight card:

Vitor "the Phenom" Belfort vs Randy "The Natural" Couture
(LHW Title Match)

Matt Hughes vs BJ "The Prodigy" Penn
(Welterweight Title Match)

Frank Mir vs Wes Sims

Jorge "El Conquistador" Rivera vs Lee Murray

Carlos "Ronin" Newton vs Renato "Charuto" Verissimo

Karo Parisyan vs George St. Pierre

Matt Serra vs Gerald Strebendt

Hermes Franca vs Josh Thomson

-Don't sleep on this shit!-

Sorry to break it to you homie, but Randy Couture is gonna keep the belt until he's around 50 years old. LOL. He's just untouchable right now. He's recently beat all the top-notch fighters like Chuck Lidell and Tito Ortiz. He's also beat Vitor once before so the chances of Randy losin the belt are not good. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Vitor, but I just call it how I see it. Unless Vitor comes out in a blaze of glory and starts rainin punches like a madman he doesn't stand a chance against Randy's wrestlin skills.

Also, Matt Hughes will retain the title against B.J. Penn. I just don't see B.J. Penn doin what it takes to win.

Those are really the only two fights I'm interested at this point. Hopefully all the other fights will make it worth watchin. We'll see.

Randy's a freak of nature, his conditioning is unbelievable when it comes to MMA standards. Shit he probably trains like a boxer or marathon runner.
Vitor has a better chance at beating him as Light heavyweight then he did at heavyweight. But it order to do that, he has to come with better stamina then couture. And that I doubt, but who knows. All Vitor needs is one good punch to connect.
It should be an interesting fight at the very least.

As for Matt Hughes, I like BJ Penn but he's over his head.
Hughes is very similar to Couture in that he has great conditioning and is very very strong for his weight class.
BJ's coming up from Lightweight, he's going to have trouble with the weight and the strength of Hughes.
I'd love to see BJ pull it off, but my brain is smarter than my heart LOL!

I hope Wes Sims beat the shit out of cocky ass Frank Mir.
Mir's a straight pussy, wouldn't mind seeing him tap out.

It will be nice to see Karo Parisyan again, this cat is the future of the UFC. Yes he is that good....

Vitor is a VERY different fighter then when he fought Randy the first time, his whole game used to be one dimensional but now he's pretty well rounded and anyone who's seen him fight before knows his handspeed is remarkable. Maybe I am biased but theres good reason for anyone to believe Belfort is gonna take this fight, also believe Vitor has the power to submit people from the guard as well.

Miggidy i agree with you on the BJ Penn thing, i'd like to see him win but he hasn't been the same fighter as of lately compared to the BJ we seen against Din Thomas. I just dont see anybody stopping Hughes at his weight right now.

I think Mir will beat Sims. Mirs ground game is excellent and Sims was pretty sloppy in their last fight but i hear he's been training BJJ in Brazil, so we'll see how it goes.

Lee has an impressive win over Pele but it pisses me off that 80% of his fanbase comes from some drunken bar fight he got into with Tito Ortiz. I hope Rivera stomps this dude.

Anyone else hear rumors about Vanderlei possibly taking on the winner of Randy vs Vitor? I dont know what Pride says about it but Vanderlei Silva spoke on it himself and said he'd want to fight the winner. Possibly for Prides US Debut(?).

agreed!! he wont be beat in the UFC, but it isnt because he is great. it is because the competition in the UFC is terrible. i mean you can take a middle of the pack heavyweight from PRIDE FC and will will stomp on Couture.

Yeah Penn's movin up in weight.

I'd love to see Silva against Couture!
I think with his striking ability, he has the best chance to beat Couture. He certainly won't beat him with his back against the matt but he has the power to end it with one punch/kick!

Agreed.^

Vitor Belforts sister has been report missing and possibly abducted, there was a lot of rumors of him pulling out and a lot of replacements names were flying around as well. The UFC President Dana White made thise statements at mma.tv:

"(Vitor Belfort) will be fighting randy couture for the ufc lightheavyweight title on jan 31st at the mandalay bay in las vegas. don't listen to any bs about vitor pulling out or not being ready."

"he arrives in las vegas on the 17th and will finish training here."

"vitor is still focused and ready to fight and will be here in 6 days. i have talked to him 10 times in the past 3 days and he and his family are going through hell right now but vitor still wants this fight. "

"vitor wanted me to let everyone know he will fight, he will be in shape and he will be focused for this fight. please pray for the safe return of his sister. have a good day everyone."

I hope Vitor isn't psyched out, this is bad news for his family. But Vitor has a lotta heart and apparently is dead serious about this fight going into it under these circumstances. Ima be pullin for him against Randy for sure.

You never know with the way shit is in Brazil.
It's a poor country, contrary to popular belief.
Vitor's very popular down there, so it's easy to find people willing to drop money on him....

I guess if that were the case, Vitor would've probably pulled out of the fight.

Im loving ufc 46 fight card, ive been anticipating belfort vs coutoure rematch for quite sometime. I dont like favoring one over the other cause they have been two of my favorite combatants from the past. Possibly the fight of the year and so early in the year too. That would be nice a pride invasion in the US and what better place in Vegas!!! Id like to see Coutoure vs Silva. Grand Prix was awesome and it displayed the warrior silva is, not taking anything away from Rampage it couldve gone both ways. Silva vs Belfort II would be sweet, the first fight finished in Tyson fashion and silva is gonna think twice charging a quick n powerful striker like belfort. Id also like to see Crocop come to the ufc as well and see how well he does in the heavyweight division...
But back to the Main event, if belfort wants to win hes gonna have to use his handspeed effectively and not let randy get an advantage on the clinche, thats where he likes to take advantage of his grappling strength and give effective leg and head cheap shots like he did against ortiz and liddell. His wear and tear tactics have gotten him great victories and if he continues to utilize his game plan we're gonna need a pride/ufc ASAP. I hope Big John dont let them roll on the ground and if theirs no action for more than 30 seconds on the guard, bring them back up to their feet and GET IT ON!!!!!!! All the interviews i read on vitor says hes prepared for the long haul and has been working a lot on his groundwork. He cant run out of gas thats for sure, cause then he'll be back on the ground taking then ground n pound blows coutour delivers..

I wouldn't even consider it a fight, no one landed anything. Other than the main event though the fight card was really good, and a huge improvement over the last UFC. I hope Pride 27 on next Sunday is as good as this UFC(though it actually already happened so you can find the results online if you wanted).
