The NBA will announce LeBron James as its MVP on Monday, The Plain Dealer of Cleveland and The Associated Press have reported, citing unnamed sources.

A day before the Cleveland Cavaliers begin their second-round series against the Atlanta Hawks, the league will anoint James, 24.

The announcement will be made at James' alma mater, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio, the reports said. The Cavaliers called a news conference for 4 p.m. ET but didn't specify the nature of the event.

LeBron claims first NBA MVP; Kobe 2nd, Wade 3rd
I woulda put Wade second for the fact that he's the ONLY REASON AT ALL his team got to the playoffs, and Kobe's team can and will do it without him as long as Phil Jackson is coaching. You also have to consider Wade's rebounding and contribution to SCs top ten highlight reel every fucking game he played this year.

Not to take away from Kobe, but for this particular season I woulda given DWade the nod over Kobe. Although this has GOT to be the closest MVP running I've seen since I started watching the NBA at the age of 5.

in any case, I been hoping LeBron got the MVP this year, and I feel it was very deserved. Depending on how these next two rounds go, he might end up with the Finals MVP as well.
