Recording problem...

i got a piece of shit mic (audio technica atr30) and its havin trouble recording... and i cant figure out why... it records.. it just doesnt pick up sound very well at all... i dont have a pre-amp for it.. and someone already said that may be the problem.. any other ideas?

1.It's a weak mic.

2.how can anyone help when you havent said what you're recording with (cubase, cool edit, logic)? Do you have your sound cards inputs turned on? Is the mic line active?


3. It's a DYNAMIC mic so phantom power is NOT required.


4. *NO* pre amp on this planet is going to make THAT mic sound GREAT.

yeah im not goin for good sound.. i just want it to record... right now im usin acid pro 4.0.. mic line is active and the sound card inputs are on i believe any help?

i dont even know man.. im just starting out on this so im still a fuckin dumbass wit it... im not goin for quality tho... i just want to be able to get somethin down so i can practice.. i'll be building this up once my bank account gets fatter.. keep in mind i just turned 17.. but its recording alot better now... good lookin on that stuff right there homie
