Folks.

I need help figuring out how to record multiple tracks at one time, with each audio track separated in Cubase SL. I have an analog mixer mackie 1402 vlz(which has main and alt outs) and M-audio Delta 1010. So I reckoned I needed to do the mixing in the computer, bypassing the mixer and plugging straight into the 1010. I figured out how to assign different VST inputs (from the 1010) to different audio tracks in cubase but when I tried to plug in my guitar, no sound is going through. I tried to switch to +4 (db?) rather than -10 on the 1010 for that channel but still nothing.

Anyone know what I should do? I need to record at least 4 or 5 tracks simultaneously.

Thanks in advance.

Correct. If I were to bypass the mixer I would need a preamp or the signal would be too weak. So instead, running TRS cables from the 6 inserts in the mixer to the 1010. Tip goes to ins, ring goes to outs, and the signal goes from instrument-->mixer-->1010-->cubase-->mixer-->monitors.
