u went to school for that? college or highschool?
i go 2 college for
COMPUTER GRAPHICS for PRINT.....
so as far as web shit and/or animation
this is basically all u learn....
in the past few years I've taught myself
how 2 make websites and such.......
but as far as my cirriculuum (for print)
this is as far as they take u...a newbie class.....
i knew 90% of the material being taught already......
but the other 10% was invaluable.....
i always wanted 2 get started with FLASH....
but never had the time or motivation when i did have time......
this lil class made me have 2 do it 4 a lil requirement on my degree....
and now that i did FLASH aint as complicated as i previously thought....
u prolly didnt wanna hear all this chatter but hey.....u asked...lol.......

naw thats what i was wondering, ive considered going to school for this shit, just to say that i have, but i always come back to, am i gonna learn anything? it seems like such a waste to go drop a couple Gz for a paper that says I know it, when my work should already prove that point.
but thanks for answering.

well...as far as thats concerned......
as versed as u are in cg
theres bound 2 be some stuff u know already......
but theres a ton of questions i never had a definite answer 2
until i took some of the classes...
i was n college for a year from JAN-DEC 99......
took almost a 3 year break & learned some
of what i was posed 2 learn in school....
and some things id have never learned in school
(like web developing)....
so i think, yea even w/ur experience ud benefit from it...
and not just because u have a piece of paper
calling u a computer graphics specialist......
shit, even if u know the MAJORITY of the material.....
my feeling is: WHERE'S THE COMPLAINT?
that juss means u'll get easy A's :devious:
but (depending on where u go 2 school)
there's alot ur missing w/out that training......much love

Up,

I average about 3 application submissions a week. About 99% of them are straight outta school.
You be surprised at how ignorant and clueless some of the students they graduate are! I, like yourself am self educated (helped working all around the field for 7 years) but it's really offensive
and disturbing at what they are (or AREN"T) teaching in these students. I've REALLY come to the conclusion that the schools just really don't give a fuck! It's a business. It's like, "You wanna call yourself a graphic designer, sure, come on down, pay us, show up and that you'll be!" I'm afraid you'd be nothing short of frustraited sitting in a class learning nothing you didn't already know being taught by an instructor you can probably design laps around. Not worth the paper homie!

NoWetaG, best thing you could do is get a pre-press job at a big printing company and see how valuable a diploma is. Man, every press has their own system. Put up with peoples submitted jobs and try to fix all their design flaws in pre-flight, truely the best way to learn design for print. Good luck, keep it up!

im glad im not the only one feelin this way, thanks pimp for backin me up on that one. i wasnt really gonna go back to school, but atleast now its surely outta my mind. 1 less thing to stress.

nowetaG - the best shit ive learned was from tutorials, and now the best way i learn, is to get on the net and look around. see what everybody else is doing, and try to mix it up.
now that you've given school a try, get on the net and look at your resources, it would be interesting to see the difference.

anyways, peace...

besides goin 2 school, ive also done countless tutorials....
thinking u will learn everything u will n school (especially PRINT-WISE)
thru these is false comfort in my eyes but....
u are an exceptional artist without it......
so dont think im knokin ya hustle....
but that piece of paper may mean the difference
btween making 30,000 or making 100,000 a year....

a piece of paper isnt shit unless u
really applied yourself and learned......
Ive worked @ a print shop as well...
so im covering all the bases as far as I'm concerned....
everybody attending school isnt wasting their time.....
just like id never say that cuz u decide 2
not go 2 school its a waste of time.......
I have been doing freelance work and such since 99.....
and my professors do give a fuk actually!
Im @ a community college and not @ UNLV....
where professors have 100+ students a class....
my actual major is Business.....
im only getting a 2 year in comp graphics......
Alot of stuff ive learned on my own.......
but some i'd never had learned UNTIL i needed the knowledge.....
and even though i work BEAUTIFULLY under pressure,
i never half-ass anything....right on 4 the words of advice.....
