I know there's alot of reason users here and I wanted to put a thread together to share tips & refills and whatnot.

I uploaded the Reason Overdrive book as a PDF file:

Geared toward advanced users of Reason, this book offers succinct chunks of guru-level advice - power techniques gleaned from the author's experience as a Reason power user. This new version 3 of Reason, Propellerhead's flagship music application, is used to emulate audio hardware such as samplers, analog synths, mixers, drum machines, effects and a real-time multi-track sequencer. The tips, presented in bite-size chunks, bring you to the next level and enable you to hone your skills on various functions within the application. Written to provide you with a resource that helps you along the way, this book gets you through a tip in a maximum of 2 pages. This guide will stay on your shelf and serve as a useful reference for whenever you are working within Reason.

^it wont, I can almost guarentee that one. I think the propellarhead people have a good relationship with didgidesign, M-Audio who makes ableton Live and other software companies like cakewalk and steinberg and dont want to fuck that up by making their software a DAW without audio recording capabilities. If they threw in vst support might as well make it a full blown midi sequencer with the ability to hook up keyboards, sound mods etc. Alot of people only use shit like protools just as a platform to make beats and reason having VST support would fuck their sales up royally especially with thses new features in Reason 4.

That Groove console thing has to be the coolest thing ive seen in a minute. I cant wait till it comes out I really cant, i had no idea they were gonna make it that good. i just hope it isnt buggy like 3 was when they first released it. This is gonna change the game if they do it right

That groove shit has been done in software before, and it has already been done in keyboard workstations like the Karma and Motif ES. So as it stands this is strictly a composing tool, just like evert version of reason before it. I'll pass, I actually need something with DV capabilities, so I need to either spend $500 on the dv toolkit or just say fuck it and go HD.

But it does look tight as a tool for composition/making beats, and its not like it can't be used in pro tools via rewire.

I'm going to have to do something. I'm missing out on bread by not having dv capabilities in pro tools. And I thought the dv toolkit was $500, but dv toolkit two seems to be the only one around and thats 1200.

But I'm reconfiguring everything anyway so I'll figure it out somehow.

Reason is excellent to use via ReWire...for anyone interested in using it. You can get a unique sound, design your own sounds, or just use presets. I think Reason needs Audio support though, until then, it's a good instrument to rewire.
