I seen and read your profile. Nice work.

How can I be a part of this mixtape you have coming out?

Gemini,

Start Up Cost: $50,000 - $100,000
No-one is going to take a chance on a Unknown Artist(s).

You are still a 'Unknown' and it would be extremely hard for us to recoup. It would cost me anywhere between $50,000 to $100,000 just to distribute and promote you alone in the U.S.. I would lose money on you.

First thing, you need a Sales, Production and Promotion Team! You also need Distribution so that your CD can be tracked through Soundscan, Universal or some other Distributor. The tracking is hooked directly to Soundscan and to your Major Distributor. Once you make number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100, Booking Agencies will be calling you from around the Country. The higher you are on the charts, the greater the Contract Percentage you can demand for the Concert Tour Circuit. You just got to find someway to get into the game as a Unknown. It's hard to get in, unless someone pulls you in. It's like credit!

It's going to cost someone around $200,000 to promote you as is. It's going to cost around $50,000 just to get started. It takes money to make money in this Country.

You buy your Stardom in America or someone buys it for you.

Good Luck with your Music!

Sincerely,
Ronnie

In your profile you state,

"I am creating a Mixed CD of MySpace Artists that will be distributed Nationally by Universal Distribution UMGD / Thump Records."

How are those "Myspace Artist" picked?

Second part of the question.

I own a few homes and looking to buy another (next year)...I have that money.

Your saying if I pay $50,000 - 100,000 I'm guarenteed promotion/distrubution though your company or that would simply get my on the mixtape? ...or is it the same difference?

For that kind of money I would need some kind of collateral.

?????

Gemini,

That's how much it would cost you in real dollars to pursue your dream. You or someone would have to pay that amount in order for you to reach your goal.
I already have the artists selected for the first Mixed CD.

Like I said, "No record company is going to take a chance on
a Unknown Artist." There are no guarantees in this business.
You have to be a great talent or have a 'Big Name' like Mariah Carey to get someone to give you $200,000 or more. It's just not going to happen.

Sincerely,
Ronnie

"Like I said, "No record company is going to take a chance on

How the heck am I buying my stardom Sir?

No more free info.

Good Luck!

Example; On the Cheap Side:
A 7 Day Promo Package of 220 :)15 Second) Commercial Spots with a possible 'On Air Interview' before the Release Date would cost $5,000. You always get the Interview! Now multiply that times 10 Major Radio Stations in the U.S..($50,000.00)
This is not counting TV Ad Time, which is a 'must' Market!

Promo Cost's for 7 days within the US are between $5,000 - $10,000 per Radio Station on average.

Sincerely,
Ronnie

Subject: RE: Question ????

Understood. I'm not trying to be a smartass etc etc...my demeaner is calm and is simply black and white with no gray area is all. The questions in reguard to the ones I made were simple...a lot of things didn't add up in my book. Yet, I won't agure the fact that it takes money to make money, but as a producer (meaning I'm putting the money up to have a product for sale and make my money back plus profit), if all goes well.

Yes, I understand there are things that can go belly up and south, but being related to family in the major motion picture business...a producer makes sure the job gets done and wants to see where his / her money is going and how it's being used. That was my reason for saying I would need some kind of collateral and guarentee. Maybe I should have rephrased that and said I need to see where my money is going (not told, I'd want to see). Here's the deal...if that money is invested for a certatin artist and for some reason anybody within reach and control of that dollar amount can say anything and just say it was a flop and drop the artist. If that happens the money either goes into the pockets of those who are supose to be working it or into another artist (if the producer/investor is not watching where his/her money is going). That's why it doesn't add up to me. No need to keep going back and forth with answers and questions. I don't feel you gave me any kind of info worth using, so if that was free? I don't see how I or anybody could benifit by telling somebody it going to cost this amount to get promotion on the radio etc etc.

I thank you Sir, and I just want you to know I ment no disrespect in any of my replies.

Have a good Holiday Season.

Subject: Question

Gemini; Producer / Investor,

Well, good luck with your investment of $200,000 on yourself, when you sell your homes. I hope it all works out for you! I'm
not trying to be smart either!

Sincerely,
Ronnie

I was not tryin' to sign to any "thump records" or any of that. I just wanted to see what dude was about. Yeah, (as said in some of the replies), the myspace was a dead give away...

"Thump records" was started through Lowrider magazine in the early-mid. 90's...I have yet to hear anything from there.

The pics on his page were some pics anybody could get off the internet. Everything he said couldn't hold water and he dodged the most simple questions I threw at him.

I got him tangled in his own scheme and...he came back at me with: "No more free info. Good Luck!"

LOL!!!!! what a fuckin' joke!

you should've asked for some sort of licensed document to see if he's really legit..

Legit or not that muthaphucka is out his mind to think anybody is going to fork over $200,000 with no guarentee of anything.

FUCK! I get guarentees all day at fuckin' BLOCKBUSTER for $3.00 to $4.00 and I get FREE rentals for $10.00 a fuckin' year! How the fuck you gonna tell me I can't get no guarentee for $200,000? LOL!!!!
