I have a rather new computer (about a year old). HP

About 2 weeks ago, it stopped reading any disc I pop in there. I can't play any disc nor burn anything. It doesn't read anything.

Any serious help / good recomendations will be appreciated.

umm...maybe you need a new cd drive?

on a completely unrelated note, the keyboard and touchpad on my pavilion laptop stopped working like a couple weeks ago so i sent that shit in and i got it back in a couple days. they're really good with their repairs. they pay for overnight shipping both ways too...if you're under warranty of course.

umm your HP should have a built in backupHD, atleast all the recent ones dating back to atleast year and a half ago should, I think?. If anything fucks up or you delete anything that you arent supposed to(like suppose you deleted your cd drive) you can reformat, and it installs everything for you. I've done it a few times with my laptop.

I have a pretty dope HP laptop I bought before I went to college a year and a half ago, and it has the backup HD. A few of my friends have HP also, and they all told me they got em too.

What does it do when you put a CD in it? Try and reinstall the drivers for the drive but it might just be a hardware failure. I have had many drives go out on me within a few months of owning them usually it will try and read the cd but it will just keep spinning it and the drive in my computer will say that no disc is inserted.

The shit's just dead Homie, it don't do anything at all. Yeah, I'll try and burn something, but it always spits the disc out saying: Please install a blank disc.

most likely updating your cd-rom drivers will fix the problem...
if its a HP drive, you can probably find the drivers on their website...

might need a new cd drive, might have a virus that shut that down, might have deleted a file, and might need to reinstall the cd drive
