Cuz rappers dont do anything else. A band will at least play the music, all a rapper does is talk so if someones ghostwriting for them its kind of like theyre a puppet. Also rappers talk about shit that no other genre does, its kind of a pride thing I guess, if youre gonna talk about these things you better be the one that went thru it.

not to mention being a rapper is also a lot about an image,so you would think if he wants to be true to that image and make his fans believe thats who he is,then his rhymes should come from him and his experiences...if you have a rapper that claims to be gangsta and turns out he has some 40 year old white guy writing his rhymes, his image is going to be shot, cause if you are supposedly gangsta (or whatever the image they are portraying) you should be able to write about your own life and not have to rely on others top project that image for you

back in the days (80's), when rapping wasn't so much about lyricist's and freestyling, they used ghostwriters for alot of rappers. thats when labels were making image's for the rappers and marketing them however they saw fit. bunch of old school rappers that have disappeared probably couldn't bust a freestyle off the top of their head if they wanted to. nowadays i think ghostwriting would be rare but i could be wrong. i know that eazy e had most his rhymes in the early nwa days written by dre and ren.

actually I think itz MORE common than we think, especially in the mainstream..I know Jay Z used to ghost write for many artists(he admits it), but he doesnt say who..and Im sure many other's get their rhymes written for them too...

Supposedly I heard that DRE didnt write the song that was dedicated to his brother and the end of "Chronic 2001"..the one with Mary J Blidge in it..thatz soooo stupid if itz true, because how is someone going to write for u how u feel about ur loved one..I guess Dre was sitting there telling the ghost writer how he felt and then the writer put it in rhymes...I hope thatz false though...

Dre didn't write ANY lyrics on the Chronic 2001. He doesn't have to. Dre is more of a producer/entrepreneur than an actual artist.. shit look at Diddy..

"Don't worry if I write rhymes, I write checks" - "Bad Boy For Life"

and you know what? he didn't write that either!

As far as an actual rapper.. someone who started out rapping, not a businessman or CEO or producer turned rapper, there's a sense of pride when it comes to their lyrics so they ain't exactly with having a ghostwriter.. on the other hand, some of these artists have labels which require them to have ghostwriters just to make sure they have a product that's top notch.. Tons of labels have saught after writers and one that always comes to mind is Mad Skillz. He's written more #1 hits than most any ghostwriter in the business.. shit, fuckin' Sauce Money wrote "I'll Be Missing You" and he was eating off that check for a minute. so the next time u hear a b-list lyricist with amazing lyrics.. 99.9% of the time, they didn't write it.

What exactly do you think a recording artist is if not a puppet?

Using ghostwriters is common place in rap. At the end of the day it's all entertainment. Nobody truely gives a fuck about how 'real' these rappers are or whether they're writing their own lyrics or not.

The music industry is for the most part just one big puppet show and if thats suprising for you to hear, you're exactly the type of person the industry targets.

Actually, I give a fuck if a rapper is talking about what theyre going through. Im gonna support a real artist because I have respect for them. Take Sabac for example. Hes not that great of a rapper, but I love what hes doing because hes actually in the community trying to cause change, which is what he raps about.

Id like to think most of the people I listen to dont have GhostWriters, but theres really no way of me knowing if they do so I cant really speak on it too much.
