I guess this would go in the open forum, anyway...A question to all my siccness rappers, how many of you can write some tight rhymes, but cant freestyle for shit? Personally I couldnt freestyle if my life depended on it. Give me and pen and paper and I can write all day, but I could never get the freestylin down. My words mesh together and form some bastardized non existant shit. Anyone have simialr experiences, and do you think it is important for an artist to be able to just spit off the top like that, even if he produces top notch tracks? Lets here it!

People like to criticize saying if you can't freestyle you're not a real rapper.

I think you're a great MC if you can battle, freestyle, write dope songs, produce beats, beat box, ...
I think that is stereotypical to say. Its like people say battle rappers cant make good songs... and for the most part alot cant. But some can.
I think Freestyling and cyphering are dope. But not everyone can think that quick.

i used to suck at freestyling because i spent my whole time writing, and now i suck at writing because i spend my whole time freestyling.
well i mean i don't suck at writing... i know how to write, but my personal style of writing has suffered throughout the years of working on going off my head..im sure if i sat down i can write good enough rhymes, i just don't have the time to. too many other hobbies i'm much better at consume my time.
if anyone in here has ever done two or three or four things in hip hop you know sometimes you gotta lay off one to get another one poppin
that just part of being a b boy, if your a weak writer or a weak freestyle then youre a weak link if you make it obvious in a crew, but wtf am i talking about, who really battles anymore or freestyles against eachother, or everyone needs to smoke weed to do it....everyones a rapper now so all that shit dosent even come into play
alot of people are on that 'i dont battle rap because im too thugged out/baller/too big of a killer' shit....and thats cool
