I cant really put my differences in words....but I'll give you some examples.

Lyricists= 2Pac, Nas, Jadakiss, Z-Ro, Chamillionaire, Max Minelli, Jay-Z, etc...
Rapper= T.I, Flip, Lloyd Banks, 50 Cent, etc...

^^^Lloyd Banks has crazy punchlines and metaphors with a multi syllable rhyming flow and that doesn't qualify him as a lyricist?

a lyricist puts effort into his shit.but like every body else,i agree,its Syllables.Metaphors too,but if your a bitch/rich/ditch/stitch rapper then metaphors aint gonna help.but heres where i disagree....

Jay Z, 2pac, Nas, Biggie,E40? not lyricists.i've liked 40 for over 10 years,i tight rapper,but not a lyricist....the first 4,if we all agree that lyricism is based on syllables,then those cats are deff not.IMO....Big Pun,lyricist....

Lil Wayne,not a lyricist....

since we're comparing,Rappin Ron (R.I.P.) & Ant Diddley Dog's old lyrics from there album in '95 would rip everybody listed on this post....
