lol this is for the people who said MMA fighters punch weak or can't take a punch...

looking to augment their knowledge of the MMA game with a little science-based number crunching on the mechanics and violence of the sport, your day has arrived:

Fight Science: Mixed Martial Arts analyzes the unique fighting styles and capabilities of legendary fighters like Couture, former UFC heavyweight champion Bas Rutten, former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz and two-time world submission grappling champion Dean Lister. The results show the comparative strengths, advantages and limitations of each technique these fighters may use during combat. Among the results, scientists determine that Rutten's kick generates a force equivalent to a 35-mph car crash, and Couture's endurance is nearly 10 times better than that of the average person and his blows generate double the force of a heavyweight boxer's best punch.

"I've been doing crash testing for the last 20 years, and I've never seen these kinds of numbers," says Kelly. "I would never have believed it if I hadn't been here to see it."
I'm not sure when it became cool to call National Geographic "Nat Geo", but that's neither here nor there. If you want to watch the program, peep the details:

Fight Science: Mixed Martial Arts airs Sunday, January 27, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Some MMA fighters are great punchers, no question. But I think what some boxing fans say is the lack of any boxing skills in the ring (obviously though since it's two different sports).

I've always liked Couture. He's the Bernard Hopkins of MMA (I think they're friends too)

and his blows generate double the force of a heavyweight boxer's best punch.
wow..couse this is the same show that estimated andrew golota's low blow of r.bow at 800 lbs....so they saying dude can generate atleast double that being that a lowblow aint a boxers best punch?..and if the ''double the force'' thing is true, why aint dude collecting 8 figure checks knocking out fools on his way to unifying the boxing heavywieght titles?..no hating here, just asking.

nowhere..a boxers lowblow is not his best punch..but the show estimated golotas at 800 lbs..so im asking if they are saying that dudes punches are atleast twice as powerfull.
Without a doubt. Rampage was generating 1800 lbs of force on sports science. Once again I laugh at the idiots on this forum who said MMA fighters couldn't take a punch or throw one. I'd rather take a shot from a 16 oz boxing glove than a 4oz mma glove any day.

"Rampage's punches are equivalent to a teenage hippo sitting on your head."
