Rakim wrote "Summertime" for Will Smith/The Fresh Prince.
"Here it is, a groove, slightly trans-formed..."
From the first line on, it's so obvious, now.
Nas wrote Gettin' Jiggy Wit It, Chasing Forever, Yes Yes Y'All and Just Cruisin' for Will Smith on Big Willie Style.
It's hard to tell Nas wrote them (they're not his style at all,) but it says that the songs were written by Nasir Jones in the liner notes.
Del The Funky Homosapien wrote No Vaseline by Ice Cube (Del's cousin.)
Pharoahe Monch wrote The Future for Diddy on Press Play. Pharoahe Monch and Havoc from Mobb Deep wrote Hold Up on the same album...
Jay-Z wrote Still D.R.E.
That one's obvious, too.
MC Ren & Ice Cube wrote pretty much everthing Dre did w/NWA. Eminem & Royce the 5'9" wrote everything he did on Chronic 2001. Royce mentioned it in an interview and now he's an Aftermath outcast.
The most obvious example is Forgot About Dre, he sounds like a clone of Eminem:
The Death Row camp knew Eazy-E was HIV positive. Nobody "knew" until 1995, but Daz called him out on it on the Doggystyle album in 1993 on track 6, Domino Intro. Listen to it again, you'll hear it.
These aren't big secrets, but they're things that tend to go unnoticed.
I hope this letter finds you well.
Love,
Gary
