you say that about hella albums i notice. are you an engineer? do you have a trained ear? seriously.
Its not hard to tell when a song/album is mixed terribly. Anytime any part of the song distorts (bass too loud, high hates too loud), that's a good indication someone fucked up. It really takes away from a song/album IMO.

It seems these days that only major artists care about mixing/mastering their products, as few "regional" artists dont seem to get it.

The reason i ask is because Im an artist and I can't even notice the the lack of quality mixing at times. It takes an awareness or trained ear to hear those minor distortions.
I would assume this album will be mixed and mastered well because it's a wu-tang cd and it's an important cd to Rae's legacy. Also, Wu-tang was known to have their music purposely sound unpolished in their early days to give it more of a vintage sound. So it's possible that the cd is intentionally mixed to give it an unpolished sound. Or maybe the leak you got is bad quality.

Wu Tang music always had that grimey cassette tape sound to it. It's never sounded crispy clear like some Death Row Records music to give an example.

Well, i can only assume that this leak is the retail version, so its as is quality wise.

I can also assume that this is the same version we all have....from the link provided.

Its one thing to sound "vintage"...its another thing to have your song sound like ass. I dont have the album in front of me, but one of the songs I listened to last night from this album had some real bassy 808's goin...and they distorted the song all to shit. It sounded AWFUL. Another had the background sample up way too low.

How can you have a "background sample up way too low"? Either its up or its low or am I missing something?

I'm sitting here listening to the album on my studio monitors, and they don't lie... the quality isn't bad... it's grimey... it has the same sound as most of Wu's shit, not perfect, but the lyrics shit on most of the mainstream... it's gutter, street shit...

Maybe your speakers are broken? Dont know what to tell you...the distorted bass is so noticeable i had to skip the song all together.

I think i know what the problem is its the producer of the beat they didnt mix each the tracks(instruments) down thoroughly and just mixed the beat down and sent to raekwon. or they didnt have the ear for music

actually studio moniters will lie unless you got top of the line that lets you switch the sound types. The way to make final judgement of a mixed track is bump it on a powerful home stereo or car system after you mixed it in the lab

It might be true about the mixing on the production side, because bass tracks are hard to mix, especially if you use samples... Eqing, and compression plays a big factor in the mix aswell... but I'm not hearing anything major on this album...
