LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KTLA) -- Jimmy Kimmel's uncle Frank Potenza, a former New York City police officer who had become a mainstay on his nephew's late-night talk show, died early Tuesday at age 77.
No details surrounding the cause of death have been released.
Potenza joined the cast of ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in 2003 after serving 20 years as a New York Police officer. Potenza also took on the role of security guard for the show.
Uncle Frank was "beloved by his coworkers and considered an uncle to all," according to an official statement released by ABC.
