Chick Hearn dead on Monday Augost 5th, 2002 approx 6:30p.m..
Chick dead at 85.. Thank you for the great play by play Chick, we will truly miss you.. god bless the dead :cry:

I can't believe it y'all. This is one of the saddest days ever for me a huge laker fan. Chick was a laker and sports legend and will never ever be replaced. There was no other like him and Iam really really sad that Chick had to go away this way. As a honor to chick they should retire his seat or something. Its definitely not gonna be the same without him. Thats it Iam too sad right now:cry: :cry:

From Elgin to Magic to Shaq, and through nine championships, Chick Hearn provided play-by-play for the Lakers' entire 42-year history in Los Angeles. The beloved announcer, who called 3,338 consecutive Lakers games, died Monday at age 85. The Hall of Famer is widely credited with introducing terms such as "slam dunk" and "airball."

Legendary broadcaster Chick Hearn, the voice of the L.A. Lakers for 42 seasons, called the action for 3,362 games and saw the Lakers win nine NBA championships during his amazing career.
