Actress Eartha Kitt has died of colon cancer at age 81, a close family friend revealed Christmas evening.
Kitt was an actress, singer and all around celebrity. She is also well known for her role as seductress Catwoman in the 1960s television series "Batman."
Kitt, born January 17, 1927, broke onto the stage in 1948 as a dance member of the Katherine Dunham Group. She later went on to star in hundreds of roles on TV, film and on stage.
Kitt received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960, according to her official Web site.
