All I can say for now is that they had a great run thru all these years of business & expansion til they ran it str8 to the ground...... 10 more days left "supposedly" til they all close up shop... For those of ya who regularly shop there for books to movies what are your thoughts about the company overall???

"No clue if this has been posted already???"

i don't know why, but i actually prefer borders as opposed to barnes & nobles...

when i was living in sacramento, i used to frequent the borders that was 1/2 a mile from my house...i would always go there, read magazines and comics and what not...they actually closed about a year or two ago, it's a shame that they were only in business for about five years.

The best part were all the countless coupons they spoiled us members with & took advantage of thats also one of the reasons for their downfall......
Im also a Barnes & Noble member & lately I be gettin numerous coupons within the last few months after Borders put up for auction but like Nuttkase stated; they cannot beat the local used bookstores & of course amazon with $25 free shipping benefit!!!

Borders was more laid back. not as crackin so more room to breathe. B&N wont even let you sit against a wall to read. and no where to sit unless you buy starbucks.

I was one to prefer my local Barnes & noble instead of Borders. But any loss as far as employees go losing their jobs in this economy is a bad look.

Looks as though they'd have some quality over quantity in there. Some out of print/hard to find type of material.
Powell's is way way better than any other bookstore. Like not even close. I can't imagine a bookstore being any better. It literally takes up an entire block in Portland. It's like 4 stories I think, if you were to put them all on one floor it would probably be bigger than Costco. HPB.....HA! Not even close.

I looked at like 8 different stores in Seattle for a book called "The Religions of Man" by Huston Smith. Couldn't find it anywhere. Everywhere told me it was out of print and I had to buy it online. Powell's had 3 copies of it.

I agree, fuck kindles or nooks or anything of that bullshit. I refuse to ever buy one. If they stop making books on paper, well, then I guess I'll just read old books.
