24 audio trackz (24 mono or 12 Stereo) / 128 Midi trackz
~Millenium, but fixing ta upgrade to XP since it is capatiable now!

The most tracks I've used at one time is around 80 stereo tracks. Computer didn't even flinch which was pretty suprising.

Windows XP Professional

3.what MOBO combo do you have?

I think it's an Epox.

Never.

Nope but I know cats who have. Mixed reviews, enough that I would keep looking at my options.

who or WHAT were you recording that required 80 stereo tracks?

@V-DIZZLE IM ALREADY RUNNING 475 WITH 512 MB OF RAM. I CAN ALREADY GET 24 TRACKS (IN FACT MORE) OF MONO AND LIKE 18-20 STEREO TRACKS. ARE YOU SURE THATS ALL YOU CAN GET (MAYBE YOU ARE LIMITED IN PRO TOOLS?)

oh yea 1.8ghz, 1200 MB ram, P4, 80 gig hard drive, i get a crash once in a while though, just outa the blue, so i save often just in case

^^^^ are you LIMITED to 24 mono tracks in your pro tools rig up? how many tracks do you think you would be capable of running if you were using lets say.......CUBASE?

For beats, I run about 20 or more stereo tracks from vst instruments (more cpu intensive than an audio file). Each track has about 2 or more plugin effects running and I get at most 25% cpu usage.

I use Cubase 5.1
ECS k7s5a motherboard
256mb ddr ram (i'm going to upgrade to 1gb pc133 come payday)
AMD AthlonXP 1600 1.4ghz
Windows 2000 (I wish Cubase was available for Linux though)

Runs like a dream.

BTW I DIDNT KNOW PC133 WAS COMPATIBLE WITH THE NEW AMD MOBO COMBOS.

My mobo is about a year old and it accepts either ddr or pc133. I've not had it max out on me, since I've never had a reason to try. But either way, I'm very happy with the setup I've got.

I never really Run in to the problem of not enuff track, so using another program would be pointless at this time

^^^ SOME PROGRAMS ARE *LIMITED* TO THE AMOUNT OF TRACKS/CHANNELS YOU HAVE (THATS HOW THE APPLICATION WAS MADE). SOME PROGRAMS ARE LIMITED TO A CERTAIN NUMBER OF TRACKS/CHANNELS BECAUSE OF *HARDWARE* LIMITATIONS. I.E NOT ENOUGH RAM/SLOW CPU ETC ETC ETC.

ARE YOU CAPABLE OF *EXCEEDING* 24 ***AUDIO*** TRACKS IN YOUR PRO TOOLS SET UP?

AT THE STUDIO I WAS RECORDING VOX AND GUITAR PARTS AT I WAS ONLY LIMITED TO THE OUTS/CHANNELS ON PRO TOOLS.

We run Paris which is an Ensoniq product. Alisha Keys did her whole album in it. The most tracks we used is 122 on Tech N9nes HYDRO off of Absolute Power. He had a ton of vocal tracks. PC based.

^^^^ i know what paris is. they should have NEVER discontinued the product. the guys across the street from me use it also.

question.

why did you make a song using 122 tracks not to mention the majority of them vocal tracks? thats a lot.
