How do people get to be the opening act for concerts? I always wondered that....

dont they call the person in charge an send them a tape or something? thats what i heard

There is several ways. An artist can know one of the acts and they can put you on, The artists, manager or Talent Agency can set it up with the show promoter, The promoter or facility owner can hear your music feel it and invite you to open, If your music gets radio and/or club play and is a popular hit with the crowd they contact you, An artist can sometimes pay the promoter or club owner under the table, Or just straight know people in high places, You usaully always got to have some previous show or performing experience Because they are not gonna send any Tom, Dick and Harry out there and take the chance of them fucking up live on stage.

There are so many ways those are are a few. There are other ways like win a contest or talent show.
