I think what you are trying to say is how many different voices(sounds) do you use besides the drum voices(sounds)...????....There arent any set rules in music...whatever sounds good to you..the creator.just like some producers make there drums off beat..on purpose and it sounds good...or some songs have no bassline..experiment..get creative. My self on average I use about 5 sounds besides the drums.

are you talking about layering sounds?..I have an mpc so let me run a lil something by you
Tracks
1.HI-Hat
2.Kick Drum
3.Clap
those are all from the mpc drum sounds I sampled and assigned to pads.
For my instruments I use multiple keyboards like the Motif and JP8000..so when I wanna make these tracks I have to send midi data to a specific channel on the keyboard and on the mpc on that track you specify what channel as well they both are the same..also on the mpc 3000 there are 4 midi outs..A (wich is going to motif) B( wich is going to jp8000) C(wich is going to my tx81z) D (currently unused)....example..
TRACKS
4.electric piano from motif. On the mpc I would put this on channel 1(being its first midi channel in my sequence and have the A after it..remember MOTIF is A)
5.Mute guitar from motif so Its channel 2A
now lets say I wanna stack some sounds...two different voices(sounds) playing same melody wich I like to combine with jp8000. to make it simple Ill just use Motif...Example...
6.I wanna use a bass with a synth lead...so on motif channel.3 I have a juno bass and 4 have a saw lead...on mpc I have track 6 channel 3A &4A
....Its a lil info here but is super simple once you get the concept of midi and I didnt have to play that same melody twice, and didnt have to copy and paste, and line shit up...

If your intention is to use mainly "software" to make music. You definitely should check out some "VST" (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins (see kvraudio.com , the entire site is dedicated to mainly VST plugins or software in general ). That's pretty much all I use for my synth parts and FX. There's a lot of very good freeware ones also. Of course you can always download the cracked non-freeware ones also, but that's a morally wrong thing to do of course, haha.

Buy a Midi controller also.

It's all about personal preferece bro. Some people like using FL Studio, some like using Reason, some like using Cubase, some like Logic, some like Pro-Tools, some like Acid, some like Cakewalk stuff,etc.... It's all a matter of personal preference, simple as that. Their all just different environments to work in and some are more convient for others. Each of these programs can't make music by themselves, it's up to YOU, the user, to make your stuff sound good. If you don't have the musical skill n ear, don't use good/proper sounds, your $hit is going to sound WACK no matter what program your using. It's a natural thing, if your good, your good.

Big reason why peeps hate on FL Studio so much is FIRST because of the former name "Fruity" Loops. SECOND, the built-in factory samples sound like $hit. That's my only gripe about it, but I don't blame the FL company for putting them in there because they are there more for a DEMO aspect and keep the installer file relatively small. If your smart, you will use your OWN sounds from third party stuff and wouldn't rely on the built-in sounds. THIRD, there's so many d@mn FL users that your bound to hear a lot of cr@p.

For example here's a dude making a remake of T.I.'s "What You Know" with FL Studio

http://youtube.com/watch?v=s7QGu9M04hU

I don't care for the song, but this definitely goes to show what FL is capable of doing when used inconjunction with the best possible sounds and skillful user. As you can see he's using a third party VSTi plugin, Hypersonic, for the musical synth parts.

Well yeah I think you're exactly right booboo, some people have different tastes, different interests and everything, you've said it all by yourself, I agree with you, I was just saying though, but I believe that most producers just don't really use that thing, maybe some do, who knows

Did ya delete it on your own, filthy? If so you didn't have to mayne, I would've appreciated your feedback, so why not check them out? I'm sure I wouldn't have thought that you were advertising your beats

Btw, I guess that FL can be a real good tool for begineers and such...and then after fucking around with that shit, you move on to the next level...

It's not neccesarily a "beginners" program either. It's a complete software package that's capable of doing a lot of the same that other more supposebly proffesional programs can do. FL Studio is a great tool just like how an MPC is to the hardware world and to call it a beginner software is completely false IMO. Like I said earlier, it's just a different environment to work in that some people might find more comfortable. I personally like FL because it's d@mn easy to use IMO and everything within it is so easy to access. I find it quick and efficient to use and really nice, clean looking. It's as easy as drop n drop, copy/paste,... it's f-ing simple for the most part. I guess most people like to hate on simplicity. Why struggle with something you think is more professional... It's so cliche when people say you need to use programs like Cubase, Pro-Tools, etc... to make better beats. Like I said it's all up to YOU and your skill and the sound choices you make. Of course beats will sound like shit if you use C_Snare and C_Clap or whatever the hell those built-in samples are called, lol.

I make tracks, and to me when I hear shit, I really don't give a fuck where it came from. Fl, MPC, Trinity, Triton, fuckin OAYSYS who really cares?
If it's a banger that's all that matters. The only people that give a damn are other producers hella mad because they spent a ton of cash and didn't think of that simple ass FL beat!
Trust me I dumped g's into hardware, but I use both pretty equally now.

and I still aint famous!!! Damn the beat game!!!

!

Exactly! You nailed it!

That last part in BOLD is definitely a big reason why some peeps like to criticise. They just can't except the fact that people who spent little to no money at all are making just as good or even better beats with progs like FL Studio, than with the hardware\"higher end software" they spent G's for.

People just need to stop hating on certain software/hardware that is supposebly "less-pro", they have to realize that everything is usable to make good beats. It's just up to the producer to make it sound good.

Use as many strings/pads as you want its your beat. Just look out for the polyphony because when you max that out the beats start to sound fucked up.
