probably the d40 or canon rebel xti.. if you want sharper pics buy a nikon.. if you want cheaper lenses canon is cheaper.. but they make aftermarket lenses (tamron, sigma etc) or you can buy a canon mount adapter or vice versa to use lenses on either camera

check out the Detox "post pics of your chronic thread" then message people who have pics you like the best.

i got a panasonic cam...with a really nice lens, and a super dope macro feature.

it really depends on WHAT you want to take pictures of...and how....

still shots, up close? or sports related, fast moving, wide shots?

i mean you can get a versatile camera that does a lot...

for me, i wanted to take super up close pics of my weed and other stuff....so i got a camera with a dope as macro feature for under $300.

i looked at the canon and olympus with the SAME features, the camera i got was $50 less, and the pictures look 5 times better. cause i fucked with all the cameras they showed me just to dick around and see the difference...

i'd go test cameras...and ask people at the store...but go to a camera shop, not fucking best buy.

if you get something with image stabalization you'll be fine.

i take pictures while moving and they come out clear as day.

and i can set my lens on top of my weed, and take super detailed pics. i took this off an old upload i did on here...but the real picture, as in the original, looks so much better.

i'd say look on my myspace at all my weed pics, but you aren't my friend on there and only friends can see my pictures. lol

Also, ask JAPE what he uses, cause he been takin some fabulous pictures of some Alaskan Thunder Fuck....

What's your budget? If you're looking to take "up close" shots (macro), then you'll be paying attention to macro lenses. Not all lenses can do macro.

Some shows and performances don't allow camera flash, so you'll definitely want image stabilization. This helps you keep your shutter speed fast enough to keep images sharp while getting enough light.

As far as Canon goes, a 40D, 50D, T1i, all have good low light performance at a decent price. A 30d should do decent also. If you have the budget, the Canon 5D Mark II has the best low light performance hands down with the best image quality at its price point and even rivals Nikon's high end at a mid-rance price point. It's a full frame camera, and it gives you wider coverage with your lenses.

Sharp pictures have nothing to do whether your camera is Nikon or Canon. The lens matters more than the camera for sharpness. Both Canon and Nikon make good lenses. Prices are comparable. But if you want to buy some L glass from Canon and sell it to me for cheap, I'll take it.
