someone explain to me how this shit works!!!!! i'm just curious how some of this stuff in the industry works. b-12, chuck, jt, cellski, anyone who knows tell me how this works.

how do people get paid for getting their songs on the radio or whatever?? do they get a contract with the radio stations or what? i have no clue someone lace me up! i always hear about artists getting royalty checks or whatever but how does this all work? all i know about this is that my buddy's dad gets paid hella money everytime they play his dad's song (todd rundgren - bang the drum all day) at nfl stadiums.

why don't more bay artists shoot videos?? i know a lot of the stations ie: bet and mtv don't give the bay much support but e-40 has videos on there and yukmouth recently.

Publishing is the #1 way to get radio funds...Videos are expensive and they cut a big % from artist royalties while the videos and major advertising is being aired....

Yea, publishing is what gets you paid like NorKoastal said. What the radio stations do is license your music, they pay to spin it (if you have publishing). Everytime it spins on a radio station you get about $0.07, I think that's what my deal is with ASCAP...although that is a small amount, if every radio station in the country is licensing your music and spin it every hour every day, that's a big chunk of change for you!!

ASCAP and BMI publish music...with publishing, people can actually license your music. They pay the publisher to use it, the publisher pays you...that's how it works...

go to www.ascap.com or www.bmi.com to check it out and get a better understanding of what publishing companies do.
