Alright I understand a lot of shit that goes on in the music and entertainment industry but one thing Ive never asked this question or been told the answer.

Why does it take so long for a CD to release after it is done?

Lou E Lou's CD is done, but doesnt drop till February. Now I understand a lot of marketing stuff goes on during this period but Im still curious. What exactly goes on every day, from the time a CD is "done", to the time it hits the shelves. Are there days when work is NOT being done at all on it? I dont like the amount of time we (have) to wait for CD's to drop :) Its not the artists or labels fault of course...

Enlighten me!

personally, i think it is a good marketing strategy if it doesn't become too long like a too short cd that comes to mind but, if they put the street teams out and an ad in murder dog and then word of mouth carries it for three more months or so, there are alot more people ready to buy it instead of how no limit was doing it or how get low is currently doing it and putting out a record a week you dig?
